The following advisory serves as notification of our continued transition in how customers obtain the Earliest Receipt Date (ERD) for Maersk services at all North America ocean terminals. There are many factors that may impact when an ocean terminal decides to receive export cargo, such as vessel schedules, weather, terminal congestion, etc. Sometimes these events occur just before vessel arrival, which leads to last-minute changes in receiving, as well as inconsistencies in the receiving window published by the ocean terminal vs. Maersk.

To ensure you have access to the most timely and accurate information, we are recommending the use of ocean terminal websites to obtain the Earliest Receipt Date.

Effective Monday, February 21, 2022, for Maersk shipments loading from the following ocean terminals, we will stop including the ERD in the booking confirmation, and we will no longer communicate changes to the ERD as the receiving window approaches.

Please note this is in addition to Savannah, Newark, Seattle, Prince Rupert, Vancouver, Baltimore, Charleston, Jacksonville, Miami, Norfolk, Philadelphia, Port Everglades and Wilmington which were previously communicated.

For terminals where this change is in effect, containers will be assessed export demurrage by Maersk only if containers gate in prior to the ocean terminals posted ERD and exceed free time or are rolled per the customer and exceed free time.

To make this change as seamless as possible, links to the terminal websites have been posted to maersk.com, under the local information Export page for Canada and US, and we will include the link in future booking confirmations. We encourage you to navigate to the terminal websites you will use most often, as several require a login to see the ERD for future vessels,

For cargo moving to the ocean terminal by rail, we will continue to communicate the ERD at the inland rail origin. However, for cargo moving via the Canadian National or Canadian Pacific rail, we recommend checking their websites for the most accurate ERD at the inland rail ramp.

Also, Effective Monday, February 21, 2022 at the above ocean terminals, we will no longer show separate deadlines for refrigerated containers and OOG cargo. These cargo types will share the same receiving window as dry cargo unless otherwise noted on the terminal’s website.

Rest assured we will continue to work with our terminal providers to set receiving windows in advance and limit changes as much as possible.
