US Masterbatch Joint Stock Company specialises in producing high-quality masterbatch – solid additives required to produce plastic products. The company was looking to switch to a more reliable logistics provider within Asia. Read on for the full story.

Masterbatch makers

Have you ever heard of masterbatch? It’s a solid additive that’s used to make plastics colourful or give it other properties. Vietnam-based company US Masterbatch JSC is a manufacturer and global exporter of masterbatch. They take pride in developing top-quality, innovative, cost-effective solutions for customers who require colourant and additive functioning materials.

Cancelled containers and delays

Before shipping with Maersk Go, the company was not using an integrated logistics management platform. They faced a myriad of challenges, such as shipping costs that were not transparent, limited container capacity, and lack of shipment visibility.

Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 disrupted freight services— leading to cancelled sailings, port delays, and container shortages. All of this resulted in significant delays in exporting merchandise from Vietnam.

The company also had containers rolled, which caused further delays in shipments and deliveries to customers. These situations were impacting not only their business but also their values, preventing them from providing their customers with service excellence.

There was one time we were shipping 4 containers in one go from Vietnam, but on the last day of the loading date, we got a notice from a third-party vendor stating that our booking had been cancelled. That is unacceptable.

Getting full visibility

US Masterbatch JSC has many customers in different countries, so they have to be able to move their cargo across various global and regional borders. This requires proper management of time and workload.
