Demurrage

Freetime and charges per container per calendar day (i.e. including week-ends and holidays) after freetime expires. Start date and end date are included in the calculation.

Notes:

  • Shipper’s Own Container is considered as equivalent to corresponding container type
  • 40´ High and 45´ High containers are considered equal to 40´
  • Special equipment/cargo, such as Flat Racks and Open Top equipment, is considered equal to reefer freetime and tariff
  • Shipper’s owned tank with DRY cargo follows freetime & rate of Dry equipment
  • Shipper’s owned tank with IMO cargo follows freetime & rate of IMO
  • For special deals: Please bear in mind that the calculation method of charges for special deals (free-time granted > tariff free-time) is ‘progressive’ and the leadoff rate slap(s) will be reduced by the number of days in excess of tariff free-time.
  • NOR (non-operating reefer) is considered as Dry Container
  • D&D product is split demurrage & detention, where demurrage is an all-inclusive rate (storage, plug-in, equipment rent on quay)

Procedures

General booking procedures

The bookings should be placed either via http://new.maerskline.com or www.maerskline.com

If you do not have any chance to submit your booking via the above mentioned electronic channels, we kindly ask you to submit the booking using our Maersk Line booking template. » ML booking template

Please make sure that you fill out all the mandatory items enabling us to proceed with your booking: container size and type, amount of containers, service contract number, contractual customer/ contract owner (if different from booking party), place of receipt and place of delivery, complete haulage details, empty pick up depot wishes and time of pick-up, sailing date and/or vessel/voyage, as well as other relevant details.  

Please note if you send a booking via E-Mail channel we debit a Manual Booking Fee of EUR 50.00 per booking.

If you want to send a booking via E-Mail booking has to contain all valid details like Container size, amount of containers to be booked, rate agreed for this transport, vessel to ship on, haulage details, any empty pick up depot wishes, as well as any other important info.

For Dangerous cargo, no bookings will be accepted, unless we are in possession of a readable dangerous cargo declaration in English. Prior loading it has to contain the container number and has to be signed for the container-packing certificate. Alternatively a separate packing certificate can be issued. It has also to be in English and readable.

For carrier haulage bookings within Germay we need minimum a two day‘s notice prior to the positining date. Otherwise we cannot guarantee you to arrange your positioning as booked.

All bookings are received on conditionally basis only until we have checked equipment availability, vessel space availability, positioning possibilities etc. After all checks have been performed from our side, you will get a booking confirmation.

We are not able to perform any export customs declarations such as B-number or BHT-number. We can however, based on the export customs docs you have to provide, ask DAMCO to perform this service for us for a handling fee.

For all shipments via Rotterdam, it is important to have the export docs together with the container. A container that has no export documents will not be shipped. The best solution is to issue one export doc per container. This guarantees a smooth handling in Rotterdam.

All containers with final discharge destination USA or are on a vessel that is in transit touching USA (FROB (foreign cargo remain on board) cargo), have to be sealed after loading by the shipper/supplier with a fixed seal.

All bookings are based on the Maersk Line B/L conditions. For inner German transports we are working on the ADSP newest version.

Documentation procedures

Shipping instructions have to be sent to Maersk Line on the following ways:

Either (best option): via our homepagemaerskline.comor via Dakosy and DBH. These instructions are taken over as they are and are not changed in any ways.
Or via E-mail to following address:bomgscidx@maersk.com. These instructions are copy and pasted into our manifest system.
Or via fax to +49 40 23 52 19 53. These instructions are completely retyped.

All instructions have to be given best possible one day after container loading, however latest at time of shipment. We will not be responsible for any fines that rise due to late submission of shipping instructions. These fines will be passed over to the shipper or involved forwarder.

For any cargo hitting or destinated for the USA, the shipping instructions have to be available our end latest 48 hours prior to the vessel arrival in the respective port. The detailed deadlines per service can be found on our homepage under Services & cut-offs.

Bs/L will only be issued based on proper shipping instructions. Any export customs docs will not be accepted as such.

Special Cargo OOG, BB and IMO cargo is subject to MaerskLinein-house approval procedure
Special Customs requirement The export customs procedure in Germany requires a Customs reference, which has to be requested with local customs authorities at cost of Euro18 (Euro 43 for Dangerous Cargo) per container in the case that Maersk Logistics is performing this service.

Container pick up

For transports arranged in Merchant Haulage, empty containers will be provided at the Place of Receipt location as stated on the Bill of Lading.

In exceptional cases and after confirmation by the carrier, empty containers may be supplied at an alternate location against payment of a pick-up fee as per tariff below.

The trigger for the validity period is the first load date at origin (Price Calculation Date).
