Import services and release procedure
Import services
In order to make it easy for our clients to plan and prepare all needed documentation for timely cargo release we provide following services:
1. Arrival notification - we send arrival notifications to our customers couple of days before arrival of their cargo to final discharge port (Port of Varna West). Arrival notifications are distributed via email or fax to consignees and first notify parties as mentioned on the Bill of Lading for every given cargo. Customers who don't receive our arrival notices or would like to change the email address or fax number we are distributing the arrival notices to are kindly requested to contact our Customer Service Import agents. We strongly recommend that customers also use our web site Maersk to trace and track their cargo on line. The information published at our web site is available 24/7.
2. Invoices- we send invoices to our customers couple of days before arrival of their cargo to final discharge port (Port of Varna West/Burgas port). Invoices are distributed via email or fax to the paying parties. Customers who don't receive our invoices or would like to change the email address or fax number we are distributing the invoices to are kindly requested to contact our Customer Service Import agents. We strongly recommend that customers also use our web site Maersk where they can find the invoices we issue for their shipments. In order to be able to access the issued invoices, clients are kindly requested to subscribe for our web site services.
3. Import customs manifest - information about customs manifest number and manifest articles is available on www.mbg.bg.
4. Longstanding container notification - we send this kind of notification to customers whose cargoes await release at Varna west port/Burgas port premises for more than 14 days for dry cargo and more than 7 days for refrigerated cargo.
As per Bulgarian customs law importers have maximum 45 days to apply for approved customs treatment of their cargo to Customs Authorities. After the expiration of this period cargo becomes subject to confiscation.
5. Additional services
We can help customers in completing their customs formalities with the customs office at Varna West port/Burgas port. For more information, please, contact out Customer Service Import Agents.
Release procedure
In order for our Customers to receive release order for cargo discharged in port Varna without delay they should:
- Present / mail duly endorsed original bill of lading to Maersk office in Sofia accompanied by a written request for release.
- Detailed instructions for date / time pickup readiness, exact delivery address, delivery time and contact person at delivery place.
- Please find attached » release order template
- Effectively pay all transport, demurrage and documentation charges due.
Import customs procedure can be initiated only in case above requirements are met by 16:00 hrs of the day preceding the release date.
Release orders are available to our customers at our port agent's office - Maersk Logistics Bulgaria EOOD at Varna West port/Burgas port.
Import procedures via Thessaloniki
In order for our Customers to receive release order for cargo discharged in port Thessaloniki without delay they should:
1. Present duly endorsed original bill of lading to a Maersk office either in Thessaloniki or Sofia accompanied by a written request for release including detailed instructions for date / time pick up readiness, exact delivery address, delivery time and contact person at delivery place. Please allow us at least 24 hours between the release instructions and the scheduled pick up from Port Terminal.
Please find attached haulage order and Letter of Authorization templates
2. Effectively pay all transport and documentation charges due.
3. Maersk Bulgaria ensures that all customers receive their invoices still before vessel arrival. Not received invoices cannot be a reason for Maersk Bulgaria to release container without payment. Customers are kindly requested to contact Maersk Bulgaria if for any reason invoices are not received.
4. All our Customers receive arrival notices one day prior vessel arrival or later at the day of vessel arrival via email or fax. This is done to help them plan and prepare all needed documentation for a timely cargo release; however we strongly recommend that our Customers trace their cargo also at Maersk website. The tracing information available there is updated live and available 24 / 7 days a week.
It is important to be noted that Maersk Bulgaria cannot release an import cargo before payment of all outstanding amounts is received and duly endorsed original bill of lading is presented.
Special customs requirements:
