From Effective 13 July 2026 - Referenced to council decision issued in its meeting held on 4 June 2025 for Amendment of Article 67 of the Customs Law pursuant to Decree No. 4461 dated 15 December 2000, published in Official Gazette No. 3 on 16 January 2025, TAX reference number of consignee will be strictly required for all shipments to Lebanon and carriers will be obliged to submit the import manifest with TAX reference within due time of manifest submission.

Consequently, Exporters -or their agents, booked by should provide TAX reference number on the shipping instructions to Maersk as follows:

Tax Reference Number – The Tax Reference Number must always begin with 601. The digits following 601 must be 8 digits long. If there are fewer than 8 digits, add leading zeros until the remaining portion is 8 digits. Insert a hyphen (-) immediately after 601, resulting in a total of 12 characters (including the hyphen)

For example 1 601-12345 then it should be updated as 601-00012345 For example2 601-1234567 then it should be updated as 601-01234567 For example 3 601-123 then it should be updated as 601-00000123

Self Service Portal on Maersk.com: References can be added from the consignee shipment reference, and this will be mandatory to submit else shipping instructions will not be allowed to submit.

Inttra platform: Tax Reference should be added in the consignee documentation address, if not added, Shipping instructions will be rejected.

EDI platforms: Tax Reference should be added in the consignee documentation address, if not added, Shipping instructions will be rejected.

Note - Shipping instructions will be rejected if any of these references are missing on the shipping instructions. Cargo will be rolled if the shipping instructions with TAX reference number specified above are not submitted by the deadline.

Additionally, amendment in Tax reference will not be accepted once manifest has been submitted and its customer responsibility to submit the valid tax reference number at SI stage and any discrepancies led by wrong submission will be consignee responsibility to handle the amendment or release process with customs directly without involvement of carrier.
