The Customer
A leading automotive logistics company – the customer is part of a renowned automotive group based in South Korea. As a global total logistics and distribution leader in Korea, they offer services and strategies optimised for the automotive industry. The company has been growing steadily on a yearly basis with the support of best-in-class experts and cutting-edge technology systems. They remain a global top-tier SCM provider through continued investment in infrastructure and engagement in social responsibility activities.
The Challenge
The manufacturing process is tightly bound in terms of timelines. So much so, that even one missed date can severely impact production schedules. Therefore, it becomes critical to ensure that the customer makes all the deliveries of required components on time to initiate production cycles according to schedule. However, in this particular case, this was seeming to be a problem as Incheon Airport was facing a congestion issue due to which there was a severe shortage of air space to the US. This resulted in the company’s incumbent air carrier unable to provide them with the space they needed to transport a key shipment.
The Solution
In order to prove our expertise in this sector, we initiated a a demo flight from Incheon to Greenville-Spartanburg to showcase our timeline and efficiency. Witnessing this demo flight gave the customer confidence of our capabilities. Once we received the responsibility of the shipment, .we actively coordinated with the Maersk Air Freight team to provide the customer with custom cut-off timelines and improved visibility of their transit. We were also able to share the trucking schedule at the port of delivery in real-time much to the satisfaction of our customer.
The Result
The customer was delighted that we were able to offer them guaranteed space with transparency. Our end-to-end services enabled them to move 130 tons of volume between Incheon and Greenville Spartanburg since September.
Our customer said, “We were quite sceptical at the beginning since no one was seemingly able to tackle the airport congestion effectively. But once Maersk showcased their capability with their demo flight, we gained confidence that our shipment would reach its destination in a timely manner. We are very comfortable moving with Maersk as our solutions partner for critical shipments.”
