Kindly note that the Cape Town CBD Area is currently experiencing a power outage due to an Eskom substation being affected by a fire in the areas surrounding Cape Town.
All Waterside and Landside operations are currently suspended. The booking system is also impacted and not operable at present.
We are working closely with Transnet to assist with providing back up generation with focus on maintaining cold chain integrity of refrigerated cargoes.
Please note that Transnet has subsequently called a Force Majeure for the CTCT and MPT Terminals as the power failure is beyond the control of TPT.
While some areas of CPT CPB have had power restored, the outage is still in effect at CTCT and MPT. At this stage it is not clear how long it will take for the power to be restored at the port.
We will continue to monitor the situation very closely and will send regular updates as the situation changes. Maersk offices remain open and is currently being powered by a generator.
