The Customer
A global e-commerce giant that is involved in almost every consumer-facing and backend industries of the world. This company has a foothold in almost all sectors and industries. They also have their own dedicated logistics operation to help them cater to the global demand for their products.
The Challenge
Due to a supplier production delay, the customer was unable to transport their cargo on the intended vessel. The next vessel had a transit time of 50-60 days, which would cause them to miss their sale day by a considerable margin. Air freight was also not an option as the goods would have reached destination too early and would have incurred unnecessary warehouse charges. The customer needed a special operation that would ensure the delivery of their cargo just in time for the sale day.
The Solution
With a key understanding of customer needs and required distribution centre arrival dates, Maersk Air Freight put forth a plan which consisted of our Air-Sea service. By leveraging our air corridor between Europe and Asia, the goods were transported to our hubs in Asia. From there, we transported the cargo via sea using the intra-APA network. this ensured that the goods arrived just in time for the sale day.
The Result
The customer was delighted by the efficiency with which we promised to deliver their cargo as per the dates required. The operation was executed, and the goods reached just in time for their sale day. The customer was able to save USD 20,000 in freight costs alone using our integrated network.
