Port Sudan update

Due to the recent civil unrest in Sudan last few weeks, leading to the suspension of port operations, Maersk had to implement a booking stop. Last Tuesday an agreement was reached locally in Sudan, which allows the port to reopen on conditional basis for a period of 35 days.

This development means that Maersk will now resume operations and prioritize our efforts to clear the backlog of the import cargo located in Jeddah and King Abdullah, as we understand these volumes are much needed by our customers in the country by now. We will furthermore focus on exporting the full containers, which had gated into the port before operations stopped on September 16th as well.

Since the port is only indicated to be open for above mentioned period, we will unfortunately not yet be able to accept new bookings but instead, we will focus on handling the cargo that was blocked. Maersk will keep monitoring the situation closely and will keep you posted on any developments.

Understanding that flexibility is key to our customers supply chain, we would like to confirm that our previously communicated alleviation measures remain in place still.
