Maersk LCL product has reviewed the Emissions surcharge (EMS/ESS) for Q1 2026 and the tariff will be effective 01st Jan 2026.
Emissions surcharge will be applied to all bookings with Load port and/or Discharge port country part of EU/EEA.
- Emission surcharge (EMS/ESS) has been implemented to cover the costs associated with complying with the EU ETS and Fuel EU Maritime regulations. For more information, please Click here
- For all bookings from China (Hongkong/Taiwan not included), we will add the emissions surcharge to the base freight rate for regulatory reasons. Base freight rate will be adjusted quarterly (increase/decrease) to reflect quarterly updated Emissions surcharge.
- The surcharge will be payable by the payer of Ocean Freight and will follow the Ocean Freight currency.
- Emissions surcharge will be applied to all bookings with Load Port and/or Discharge Port country part of EU/EEA.

Please find below levels for LCL product on trade level which will be charged towards Emission Surcharge Q1 2026 and will be applicable 01st Jan 2026 onwards
The surcharge will be payable by the payer of Ocean Freight and will follow the Ocean Freight currency.
This is a mandatory surcharge to all spot and contract shipments with only exception being ECO delivery shipments as advised below.
*ECO Delivery Bookings will not be charged with emissions surcharge. Choosing ECO Delivery means we replace fossil fuels with green fuels. This investment reduces green-house-gas emissions of your bookings and decarbonizes your supply chain. Learn more about ECO Delivery.
