Container release restriction in Port of Poti, Georgia

29 September 2025 - Update 02

Further to the Customer Advisory below, Maersk Georgia hereby issues the following clarification and reiteration of policy:

Effective as of the date of the Advisory on Container Haulage, all Maersk import containers arriving at the Port of Poti will be released on a haulage basis strictly for further use and inland transportation by the customers in full compliance with Maersk’s Sanctions Policy, including all applicable EU, U.S., and UN sanctions and export control regulations.

Container haulage will be permitted only to destinations where Maersk maintains active operations and where such transport is fully compliant with Maersk’s global compliance standards.

Additionally, Maersk expressly prohibits the unauthorized reuse of its containers for the carriage of any cargo not originally contracted under a Maersk-issued Bill of Lading. All containers remain the property of Maersk and must be returned in accordance with the terms and conditions of the original shipment.

Any breach of Maersk’s Sanctions Policy, including unauthorized use of containers for further transport to or through restricted destinations, or any reuse of containers without prior written approval, shall entitle Maersk to immediately suspend or terminate any ongoing or future business with the customer in breach, without prejudice to any other rights or remedies available under law or contract.

As part of our continuous drive to improve and simplify your supply chain, we are implementing changes related to optimal coordination and utilisation of our equipment in the Port of Poti. This change comes from our efforts to increase our customers’ satisfaction and will help us deliver the service levels our customers expect from us.

Effective 15 October 2025, all Maersk import containers arriving in Poti will be released solely for use in connection with Maersk provided services and shall not be permitted for any further use following the completion of such services, unless otherwise expressly agreed between Maersk and the customer in writing.
