Environmental Fuel Fee (EFF)

Summary: Maersk will update the tariff for Environmental Fuel Fee (EFF) effective 01 February 2024.

Maersk will update the tariff for Environmental Fuel Fee (EFF) effective 01 February 2024. This would be applicable to:

  • Intra Europe & Asia Spot and all contracts with validity up to one month
  • All bookings (including Intra Europe & Asia Spot) with ETD effective 01 February 2024 onwards until further notice

The EFF tariffs have been reviewed using the price development of Platts fuel price index of 0,5% Sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) and looking into the trigger communicated previously (changes of more than 50 USD/TON – up or down – compared to the last tariff adjustment).

In this specific case, the price difference between the two periods is 57,72 USD/TON.* The details on the period used for the calculation of the EFF levels can be found in the table below.

For Intra Asia, the price difference between the two periods is 24,30 USD/TON* which is not more than 50 USD/TON trigger. Hence the November 2023 EFF rates are applicable in February 2024 as well. The details on the period used for the calculation of the EFF levels can be found in the table below.
