The area around the Suez Canal is experiencing turmoil. This has impacted the transportation of cargo between Asia and Europe. Supply chain efficiency has decreased, and delivery schedules are being relooked at. Global carriers are looking for safer passages for their vessels.

Maersk is committed to maintaining the efficiency of your supply chain. You can overcome disruptions around the Suez Canal and keep your supply chain moving with our strategic solution: the Middle Corridor solution.

It integrates our network of ocean and cross-border rail services and offers a safe transcontinental transportation route between Asia and Europe.

The Middle Corridor

  • 41 days transit time from Xi’an to Duisburg.
  • The corridor encompasses the Caspian and Black Sea all the way to Ambarli.
  • From Ambarli, Maersk offers ocean freight or cross-border rail services to major European countries, including Spain, Italy and Greece.
  • Freight All Kinds (FAK) cargo is acceptable, including Electric Vehicle (EV).
  • Dangerous Goods (DG) are strictly prohibited.
  • Service is available for Eastbound as well as Westbound.
  • Cross-border rail

    Important Tips

    • We’ll accept Single Container or Block train (with 50-55FFE) on Westbound (from China to EU), while only Block train (with 41-50FFE) is acceptable for Eastbound.
    • Weekly public train from Xi’an on 15, 22 and 29 February 2024.
    • Xi’an-Ambarli: USD 6,500/40HQ
    • Xi’an-Duisburg: USD 8,800/40HQ

    Risks

    • Weather conditions in the Caspian Sea are very unpredictable during winter. This can impact service schedule.
    • Infrequent schedules across the Caspian and Black Sea can prolong transit time in case cut-offs are missed.
