The following advisory serves as our final notification of a change to our current policy regarding collection of titles for vehicles and Vehicle Cutoff. Our current policy regarding validated title collection and vehicle cutoffs exceeds the requirements outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations referred to as 19 CFR. Although our intention has been to prevent non-compliant vehicles from loading our vessels, it is clear based on customer interviews and vehicle shipment history, that our policies around used vehicles are not providing additional value or benefit to our customers or Maersk. We are therefore removing ourselves as an additional checkpoint in the process, and instead we will allow customers and US Customs and Border Protection to maintain the responsibility of regulatory requirements for vehicle shipments exporting out of US ports of call.
Our new policy will assume that shipments subject to the regulations under 19 CFR will load unless requested by customers or US Customs and Border Patrol not to load.
How this will affect you
- We will no longer communicate a cutoff specific to vehicles. Vehicle shipments can be received on the terminal for the full receiving window.
- We will no longer require a copy of the validated title.
- If you wish to roll your cargo you must notify us 2 hours prior to port cutoff local port time by e-mailing NAMCUSVEH@maersk.com to request containers to be rolled.
This new policy will be effective Monday, May 9, 2022 for Maersk shipments loading from the below locations.
