Savannah – Atlanta Rail Service

We are pleased to inform you of the following changes within our intermodal network servicing the Savannah to Atlanta market. The challenges we continue to see impacting drayage & chassis availability have led to increased dwell times in Savannah and a sharp decline in reliability for our customer supply chains. In our efforts to provide more reliable solutions, we will transition all Store Door volume moving from Savannah to the Atlanta area to a rail connection utilizing the CSX rail network.

Effective April 15th, store door imports discharging in Savannah for movement into the Atlanta area will begin moving by rail to the CSX Facility in Fairburn, GA.

• Transit time from Savannah to Atlanta via rail is 2 days.
• This will only impact Dry 20, 40, and 45ft cargo.
• Standard rail acceptance policies for the CSX network (hazardous cargo, weight, etc.) are applicable for this routing.
• This is a daily rail service with a reliable track record.

Some key information for the CSX Atlanta Fairburn ramp location is listed below for your reference. Please be aware that containers will continue to deliver to door locations as booked per the bill of lading. We expect this to be a seamless transition for customers as we shift to a more reliable solution via rail connection to the Atlanta market.
