As previously communicated, the Suez channel is again allowing vessels to pass through. The blockage has, however, impacted vessel schedules, such that we now see a high frequency of arrivals in Europe. The result is an increased pressure on port terminals and depots, creating substantial waiting times for arrival / evacuation of full containers.
Therefore Maersk will implement a surcharge for all Carrier Haulage and Multi-carrier bookings for cargo to/from France via North West Continent ports (Belgium / the Netherlands / Germany) as follows:
- For all barge, rail and all combined intermodal transports bookings: EUR 10 per container
- For all truck bookings: EUR 25 per container
This charge is associated with the cost being imposed on us by suppliers, and to ensure that we can provide sufficient capacity to meet customer needs, in face of reduced turnaround times and impacted landside productivity.
At present, the surcharge will be applicable as of 15th May, 2021 until 30th June, 2021. Maersk will continue to monitor the situation, and keep you informed.
We appreciate your understanding and support to overcome this extraordinary situation together.
Please feel free to reach out to your local Maersk Customer Service representatives.
We want to thank you for your business and look forward to continuously serving your global transportation needs.
