The issue

When natural or human-incurred disaster strikes, emergency logistics services are a key factor. Having aid reach the impacted areas more quickly and efficiently saves lives. Our deep knowledge of logistics and global presence allow us to deliver on this need, and we see it as a clear responsibility to do so.

What we do

Since 2010, A.P. Moller - Maersk has been a member of the Logistics Emergency Team (LET), which comprises four global logistics and transportation companies: UPS, A.P. Moller - Maersk, Agility and DP World. The LET supports the Logistics Cluster, led by the United National World Food Programme (WFP), which provides emergency responses to large-scale humanitarian crises. In 2018, the LET expanded its scope from covering only emergencies brought on by natural disasters to also cover human-incurred disasters often related to for example food insecurity, epidemics, and conflicts.  

From support to large-scale natural disaster to include support to preparedness activities for natural disaster and critical gap filling in ongoing complex emergencies that also entail human-incurred disasters often related to for example food insecurity, epidemics, and conflicts.  

We participate in responses to large-scale disasters and in preparedness activities such as training, knowledge sharing on transport and logistic capacity and access to sites in selected area. This work allows aid to reach impacted areas more quickly and efficiently.
