Procedures

Accept rate You accept the rate, we respond with the required registration forms (new clients only)
Register with us:
  • bio data form
  • certificate of incorporation
  • Nigeria export permission council certificate
You return original forms. We will ensure all forms are processed
Make booking You complete e-booking (by email tongacsedir@maersk.comor online booking)
Collect empty container We will confirm the booking and send container release order within 2 hours, after which container can becollected immediately.
Return full container with:
  • shipping note
  • NDLEA certification
  • SSS certification
You return the full container ready for export with your customs clearance/ shipping note. The clearance document should be submitted latest 48hours before the vessel arrives
Submit completed SI You submit your complete shipping instructions (SI)on-line and same is to be submitted latest 48hours before intending/planned vessel arrival with complete details(customer and cargo description). The Shipping Instruction should be submitted before the clearance document is submitted
Verify copy of B/L Later, the client comes in to verify correct bill of lading, show evidence that all charges have been paid and collect the original bill of lading. The bill of lading is due for collection 24hours after the vessel sails.

All units to be exported should be customs cleared

Restrictions

Maersk Nigeria only accepts cargo at the port terminal. No carrier haulage services are offered in Nigeria. Any cargo moving from inland points to the terminal are on own risk and account of the cargo.

Due to the challenging operating environment, we are unable to accept any requests for late gate cut-off. All export documentation with the necessary government authority approvals must be handed over to our customer care department before the export cut-off times as specified in the services and cut-offs section.

  • Container Freight Station (CFS) cargo is currently not accepted for exports.
  • Dry cargo can be accepted from all terminals.
  • Reefer cargo is only accepted from Apapa and Port Harcourt Terminals.
