Non Operative Reefer
- Non Operative Reefers requires a mandatory X-RAY inspection prior empty evacuation which entails costs of USD 170 per box to the line.
- 45’ containers
- 45’ units are accepted in Venezuela under shipper responsibility; customer needs to look out for the appropriate equipment (chassis) for transportation.
Documents to present
All export documents must be presented at our different custom agencies as follows:
- Booking confirmation and copy of BL: 3 days before vessel ETA.
- DUA: 2 days before vessel ETA
Required Documents
All Transport Documents and Cargo Manifests must be presented to customs 48 hours before vessel arrival perfectly.
Kind of Bill of Ladings
Maersk issues 3 types of Transport Documents and your preference will depend on the terms of trade you have negotiated with your customer at destination.
- Negotiable Shipped on Board transport document can be used to transfer title to goods by endorsement and is only issued when the container has been loaded, guaranteeing that the vessel mentioned on the document is the first vessel voyage on which the container was shipped.
- Negotiable Received for Shipment document can also be used to transfer title to goods by endorsement, but unlike the Shipped on Board Transport Document, it can be issued when the container has gated in to the port but even before it has loaded, thereby stating that the container has been ‘received’ to be shipped on a certain vessel voyage, but not guaranteeing that it has indeed loaded
- Sea waybill is a Transport Document that is issued when there is a high degree of trust between the shipper and the consignee. Sea waybills are not negotiable documents, and cargo is only released to the consignee. You can however have ‘Shipped on Board Sea waybills’ or ‘Received for Shipment Sea waybills’
For Negotiable Transport Documents, the shipper must physically transfer the document to the consignee. Physical surrender of a Negotiable Transport Document is required for release of cargo at destination as cargo is released to the party in whose favour the document has been endorsed. For Sea waybills, while issuance is legally mandatory, collecting a Sea waybill at destination is not a requirement for release of cargo as cargo is only released to the nominated consignee.
Note:
- In order to create export bookings, customers located in Venezuela must present a series of documents to Maersk for further evaluation. This process takes approx. 3 days
- Freight Forwarders are not allowed as Shippers nor Price owners for Reefer bookings.
