Import: Customers will be offered Combined Demurrage & Detention.
This means you will have one combined free time period and compensation for utilisation of equipment inside and outside of terminals or depots, referred to as Combined Demurrage & Detention, from vessel discharge to gate in empty. Calculation method maintains as Progressive calculation.

Before sending a Delivery / Release request, ensure that
- A Shipping instruction has been sent and the Bill of Lading has been processed.
- All due payments have been made both by yourselves and the exporter at the origin end.
- Original Bill of Ladings have been surrendered
In case a payment does not reflect in our system 24 hours after your request has been received, we would be requesting you to resubmit your request after ensuring the payment has been processed.
Kindly note to submit your OBL to our Maersk office and ensure payment is received prior to sending the template for cargo release.
Manifest changes 5 days before vessel arrival
No amendments should be made to the Bill of Lading and/or Manifest 5 days prior to vessel arrival at Malaysian ports. Consignees are requested to contact Maersk Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (my.import@maersk.com) to review any amendments made after this deadline. Any amendments made after this deadline is subject to Customs Fine of up to MYR 5,000 which will be borne by the Consignee. Also an additional MYR 90 Bill of Lading Amendment Fee will be charged by Maersk to the Consignee.

Acceptance to Port Klang (Northport), Tanjung Pelepas, Penang, Kuantan, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Bintulu, Sibu and Tawau.

Weight/Measurement
Based on equipment types. Actual weight must never exceed the maximum weight that the container can accommodate. Dimension of containers varies between containers series. Weight Acceptance for the following ports are:
1. Northport, Port Klang (MYLPK)

Note: Weight limitations for Sabah & Sarawak ports due to operational (crane) limitations. Units exceeding the maximum allowed tonnage are not permitted to discharge. As such, the containers will be retained on board & re/unstuffed in Singapore or loaded back to destination with entire reworking cost invoiced to customers accordingly.
Special Cargoes
Out of Gauge, Break Bulk and Dangerous (IMCO) cargo subject to standard Maersk approval procedures.
Dangerous Cargo under KPA Group 1 and 2 MUST be cleared DIRECT DELIVERY EX-SHIP unless approved for temporary storage by LPK (DG department).
Dangerous Cargo - Port Klang
All containers with Dangerous Goods should have the “Placard” (also known as DG stickers) affixed on each side of the containers. The total “Placard” per container would be 4 pieces.

Booking for Automobile and Personal Effects
Based on local custom's restriction, booking for such commodities can be made only for one container per owner on per bill of lading. Failing such, consignee would not be able to proceed with custom declaration.
Import Restrictions and Non Acceptance
All used computer parts required special permit from Department of Environment Malaysia under Basel Convention Law. Under Basel Convention Law click here Malaysia restricts the import of hazardous wastes and other wastes for transit, final disposal and recovery. Special permits from Department of Environment Malaysia is compulsory. Cargo without permits will not be accepted during booking/ discharged in Malaysia or retain onboard back to port of loadings at shippers and/or consignees on risk and cost. Plastic Scrap Imports to Malaysia
Maersk no longer accepts import of used plastic / scrap plastic into Malaysia.
Violated shipments will not be allowed to discharge from vessel at Malaysian terminals.
