Pilot to be rebranded as Maersk

As part of our integrated logistics strategy, we are consistently trying to find ways to bring ease, flexibility, and resilience to our customers’ supply chain. Uniting brands offers a consistent and simplified experience, as customers will be able to access our diversified and extended offering under a single brand identity.

Through this we aim to unify our structure to better reflect the reality of our customers’ supply chain challenges, giving customers more multimodality options and connectivity, all under one roof.

While Pilot’s visual identity will be changed to the Maersk visual identity, the brand transition does not affect customer contracts, licensing, terms, conditions, or pricing. The main change for our customers is the Maersk visual identity replacing the Pilot visual identity on quotes, invoices, and similar commercial documents.

Should there be any changes, we will inform customers of further changes to their accounts in a timely and open manner. We will handle the transition with the utmost care, to ensure that any impact to customers is as minimal as possible. Transitioning to Maersk is a process. The first changes to the website will be completed in June 2023. The timeline for the brand transition of assets will vary by state or country, depending on local complexity, number of assets, and so forth. 

Throughout the transition, current account teams and terms and conditions (contracts, payment terms, etc.) will remain the same, and no changes are expected on your account and on how and who you interact with. You will still be able to reach your Pilot representative at their usual Pilot contact numbers and email addresses. Representatives will reply to you from their @Maersk.com email address, which you can then enter into your contact list.

Should future changes occur to this, we will ensure to inform you in a timely manner, and handle the transition with the utmost care, to ensure minimal disruption for your company.

The brand transition will not affect customer billing. Whilst Maersk visual identity will appear, the legal entity will remain Pilot. You will still use the same billing information and payment accounts as prior to the integration. We will inform you of any changes to the legal entity in timely manner so you can adjust your billing information. For now, billing information will continue to state Pilot.

For now, you can continue to book and access information on services and products on www.pilotdelivers.com. As additional changes are implemented, you will receive an email to notify you of any changes. There will also be messages posted on relevant pages to redirect you when the time comes.

All current functionality of the website will remain in place. Customers will continue to have access to website features such as “Track a Shipment,” “Schedule a Delivery,” the “Copilot” portal, and the “Pilot Air Freight Online Payment Portal” feature. Our goal is to ensure that our customers receive the most optimal service, before and after the integration.

For decades, Maersk has been present across many different levels of the transport and logistics supply chain. We have maintained a proven track record of protecting third-party sensitive data from being accessible to other parts of the Maersk organization. We are committed to operating our business in compliance with all laws and we will handle your data with the respect and care.

Where your supply chain uses the services of non-Maersk ocean carriers* and where you have contracted Pilot to orchestrate your supply chain on your behalf, please note that such Pilot/Maersk employees will operate from an @maersklns.com email domain. The reason for this is to ensure that you and the non-Maersk ocean carriers that you use, can readily identify that they are dealing with the correct person within the organization. Maersk’s data ethics rules, which are applicable to all Maersk employees, are designed to ensure that we continue to appropriately handle confidential, sensitive, and competitively strategic information (CSI) of our customers’, including that of their suppliers’ and partners’. Specifically, these rules are designed to prevent direct, indirect and accidental access to third-party CSI and ensure that their data is appropriately handled, stored and access controlled within Maersk, to protect your trust.

We are sensitive to the fact that this may result in cases where one part of Maersk is in a customer or supplier relationship with a third party, and another part of Maersk may compete directly with that same third party. As an example, our prior forwarding business, Damco, supplied Maersk’s orchestration Supply Chain Management and 4PL solutions, managing multiple transport and logistics providers appointed to service a common customer’s needs. Please note that we have maintained a proven track record over the years of protecting and ring-fencing third-party confidential data from being accessible to other parts of the Maersk organization. We are, and will always be, committed to operating our business in compliance with all laws.

Maersk has created and implemented specific rules around data access and a comprehensive compliance and controls framework on this topic, which is above market standard and exceeds the legal requirements imposed by different laws as they exist today. The reason for this is that maintaining the trust of our partners and stakeholders means everything to us.
