Modal Shift Programme (MSP) up-date at DP World Southampton

DP World Southampton announced on Friday 28th February 2025 the incentive rate effective the 1st April 2025 to 30th September 2025 will remain the same as it was in quarter one 2025.

The current incentive is effective 1st January 2025 to 31st March 2025 is a rate of GBP 70.

The MSP fee of GBP 10 per import laden container will remain unchanged.

• A MSP Fee of GBP 10.00 will be applied to all import laden containers.
• The MSP incentive of GBP 70.00 is currently set between the 1st of January to the 31th of March 2025.
• Effective the 1st April to 30th of September 2025 will remain at the same level of GBP 70.
• The MSP Incentive for 1st October 2025 to 31st March 2026 will be announced by 31st August 2025.
• D P Worth Southampton reserves the right to review levels.
• The MSP will be credited for any import laden container which leaves DP World Southampton by rail to a railhead within the MSP Incentive Zone as seen in the below map.
• Any import laden container which leaves Southampton by rail to a railhead outside the MSP Incentive Zone will be refunded the MSP Fee.
• The MSP Fee will be charged to the import clearing agent who makes the customs declaration.
• If goods move by rail outside the 140 miles, the MSP will be repaid.
• This scheme does not apply to road.
• The MSP Incentive will be gained for all containers connecting to an import intermodal train within the MSP Incentive Zone within 72 hours of departing the DP World Southampton terminal as a gate out.
• DP World will review the scheme before extending any further.
