Egypt - Advance Cargo Information (ACI)

In accordance with the new Egyptian Customs law #207 that was put into effect on November 2020 and its following related decrees, Advance Cargo Information (ACI) is becoming mandatory for All Egypt Import shipments. Egyptian Customs has announced a grace period from 1st. of April 2021 till 30th. of June 2021 , after which ACI will be strictly required for all Import shipments. In the same context, Carriers are now required to include the ACI along with Importer’s and Exporter’s registration numbers – in transport documents (Manifest & Bill of Lading).

Consequently, with the complete implementation of ACI after the trial period, Maersk will strictly refrain from loading any shipment planned to be destined to Egypt from the first Load Port in absence of aforesaid mandatory data, and Importers are obliged to communicate obtained ACI with Exporters enough time before loading date, enabling Exporters -in turn- to communicate required data with Maersk at least 24 hours prior intended loading date to ensure a smooth loading of their shipments.

Meanwhile, Importers are encouraged to test the new ACI setup during the trial period, they are also encouraged to send copies from their Tax-ID and Commercial Register to ahmed.warith@maersk.com in order for us to maintain their correct data in our system which will facilitate a better alignment of data with authorities.
