Following the earthquake of June 24, Maersk would like to provide an update on the operations at La Guaira, in Venezuela.
We appreciate our customers' understanding throughout this challenging period and remain committed to providing updates as operations continue to normalize. The safety and wellbeing of our employees, partners, and the communities where we operate remain our highest priority. We continue to work closely with local authorities and port stakeholders to ensure that operational activities are resumed safely and responsibly while supporting the continuity of our customers' supply chains.
Following ongoing assessments and coordination with the relevant authorities, Maersk will begin a gradual return to operations at the Port of La Guaira according to the following schedule:
Week 30 – AS ANGELINA v.630N
The vessel will only evacuate empty containers.
Week 31 – MAERSK CAP CARMEL v.630S
The vessel will only discharge full import containers at La Guaira.
Week 32 – AS ANGELINA v.631S/632N
The vessel will resume both import and export operations through La Guaira.
The planned schedule is subject to change depending on operational conditions at the Port of La Guaira, including terminal infrastructure readiness, equipment availability, access routes, safety assessments, and regulatory guidance. We will continue to monitor the situation closely adjust and update the plan should any changes become necessary.
This phased approach is intended to support a safe and stable return to normal operations while allowing port activities to ramp up progressively.
Operational Guidance
Furthermore, should a change of destination be requested for cargo originally booked to Venezuela, the shipment will be subject to all applicable operational fees, surcharges, and related costs associated with the change.
Customers are encouraged to coordinate closely with their local Maersk representatives regarding cargo planning, export bookings, empty equipment positioning, and import cargo availability during this transition period.
Any cargo already discharged or redirected through alternative ports will continue to be managed according to previously communicated operational and customs guidance.
