On 28th May 2024, the Ligurian Truck Drivers’ Association (Associazioni dell'Autotrasporto Liguria) announced that it would be implementing a congestion fee for cargo trucked in and out of the Port of Genoa until further notice. The Association stated that said fee is in place to ‘guarantee the economic sustainability of transport and therefore the road safety of drivers and vehicles’.
To accommodate these additional costs presented by our vendors, secure capacity in the market and ultimately ensure a continued and sustainable inland transportation service for our customers, A.P. Moller – Maersk and, therefore, all its subsidiaries and controlled companies, will be introducing an Inland Peak Season Surcharge for all export and import truck moves to and from Port of Genoa terminals (Genoa Vado Ligure Terminal is not affected and will not apply).

The charges implemented by the Association are mandatory, and at this stage there is no indication as to when they will be withdrawn. We will, of course, continue to monitor the situation and remove the Inland Peak Season Surcharge as soon as it becomes operationally feasible to do so.
