We have seen an increase in delay related costs for containers into Kenya and for containers that are in transit via Kenyan ports.
To encourage all customers to return import containers as quickly as possible and to enable us to use these containers to support Kenya’s export needs, please note that from Wednesday, 15th February 2023 the below Import / Export Demurrage and Detention Tariffs will be applicable to all containers into Kenya and for containers in transit via Kenyan ports.
Please note that if you foresee that you will need to use Maersk’s import containers for a period that exceeds the alloted free time per container, you are able to benefit from Maersk’s innovative alternative Free Time extension product! This product enables you to purchase additional days after the expiry of the container’s free time period, which can be up to 80% less than the daily detention and demurrage charge.
The new Import / Export Demurrage and Detention Tariffs that are applicable upon expiry of the standard free time period are as below. Please note that these tariffs are charged per container and per calendar day.
