The purpose of this advisory is to provide you with the latest update regarding the recent COVID-19 outbreak’s impact on Hong Kong. The disinfection and quarantine measures have been implemented by local authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We’re closely monitoring the situation and providing you with the most up-to-date information so that we can continue to serve our customers’ supply chain needs providing the context of the situation.
Highlights
- Trucking service for routes between Hong Kong and Mainland has been suspended. Barge service is operated as an alternative.
- AIR freight lead time will be prolonged as a ripple effect.
Terminals
Terminal keeps operating as normal.
Vessels
Vessel call and departure keeps normal.
Landside
Maersk trucking service for distribution within Hong Kong needs to be booked 5 working-day in advance. Maersk trucking service for routes between Hong Kong and Mainland has been suspended. Barge service is operated as an alternative.
Warehouse
All inbound and outbound operations keep normal in HKDC (Hong Kong Distribution Center) for now. Drivers and helpers need to complete vaccination when they come to HKDC according to the government’s vaccine bubble requirements.
AIR
Due to the suspension of the trucking service between Hong Kong and Mainland, barge service is taken as an alternative for cargo moving. Airfreight space reservation will not be proceeded until the cargo is delivered to Hong Kong airport warehouse. As a consequence, It will take longer lead time than usual for the airfreight service.
Counter
Due to the situation in Hong Kong with increasing Covid cases, Maersk counter service will implement the following adjustment from 1st of March.
- Counter will be open to customers from 8:30 AM -to 12:00 PM every Tuesday and Thursday and it will be closed on remaining hours.
- Cheque and cash payment collection will be suspended. Customers are encouraged to adopt e-payment as an alternative.
- Documents pick-up is only accepted by appointment. Self-service documents drop-off will be available in opening hours with no receipt available.
- Ocean Import counter service
- E-payment is used for import collect charges and demurrage & detention charges. Payment proof is required to be attached in eRO platform for further process.
- Original B/Ls, licenses and other documents can be submitted to the self-service drop box during opening hours.
- Ocean Export and other counter service
- E-payment is used for all charges. Payment proof needs to be sent to HKGFINFRC@MAERSK.COM for payment confirmation. Documents pick-up appointment needs to be made after receiving the payment confirmation.
- Documents pick-up appointment request needs to be sent to CN.SOUTH.EXPORT@maersk.com.
- Supply Chain and Logistics counter services
- E-payment is used for all charges. Payment proof and documents pick-up appointment request need to be sent to CTR.OPS.HONGKONG@lns.maersk.com for confirmation.
- Documents pick-up appointment can be made once payment proof is sent to CTR.OPS.HONGKONG@lns.maersk.com for existing e-payment customers.

Landside
Maersk trucking service for distribution within Hong Kong needs to be booked 5 working-day in advance. Maersk trucking service for routes between Hong Kong and Mainland needs to be booked 5 working-day in advance as well. The service availability is subject to the constantly changing regulation on the further development of Hong Kong Covid-19.

Strict measures have been deployed to the drivers for cross-border which caused the delay of first-mile-delivery from the factories to Hong Kong. Airfreight space reservation will be only conducted after the cargoes are gated into Hong Kong airport warehouse. It will take longer lead time than usual for the airfreight service.
Counter
