As we are aware – the serious civil unrest in South Africa has broken out across the country with significant incidents in the Durban and Gauteng areas. The impact of the political unrest, has resulted in some of our depots being shut down and terminals operating with skeleton staff. This represents a serious threat to our lives and livelihoods.
We realise that some Cargo owners will temporarily cease operations during this period resulting in the disruption of Imports and Exports. Maersk will implement the following measures to support our customers during this period.
Detention & Demurrage - Exports & Imports
For the period of 12th July – 19th July 2021, no detention will be invoiced. If there are any demurrage charges applicable it will be line with the advise from Transnet.
We continue to offer our full support and collaboration with our customers to minimize or avoid any further delays to your supply chain. It is crucial that we work together in these challenging times.
