Status of Maersk offices and hours

Power outages and water shortages have impacted our teams across Texas, but we expect the situation to gradually improve in the coming days. We activated back-up in our Charlotte, Toronto and overseas offices to keep your goods moving. We thank you for your business and patience through this contingency.

Vessels

  • Newark
    • Newark PNCT: Maersk Saigon planned for Feb 23rd/0700 hrs.
    • Newark APMT: currently 3 vessels alongside working. Next vessel is the MSK Karachi, expected to come Feb 23rd/1300 hrs.
  • Baltimore
    • 1 vessel currently working. Next vessel is the Maersk Sembawang, scheduled to start Feb 23rd/0700 hrs.
  • Philadelphia
    • No vessel currently alongside. Next vessel is arriving on the 25th.

Land

Warehousing

  • All distribution centers and warehouses operating as normal.

Trucking

  • Trucking Companies in Newark and Philadelphia are citing issues on the roads which may limit progress from the terminals. However, they are continuing to dispatch truckers into the port.

Rail

  • NJ/NY ports – snow continues to impact Midwest loading as pipeline continues to back-up. Ohio Valley hold has been removed and PNCT is starting to move containers as of today, albeit a smaller amount.
  • Canada Network is strained from ports to prairies. Trains running shorter and slower in order to ensure safety is of top priority.
  • Winnipeg having to hold reefer containers as a result of weather causing train delays in and out.

Southeast US and US Gulf

Ocean

Ports

  • Port Houston Customer Service will be available.
  • The Port Houston container terminals are open for vessel and road operations.
  • The Bayport and Barbours Cut gates will be open from 7am - 11pm. Truck gates are open until tonight until 11pm. The ingate will close at 10pm to allow trucks to be serviced and exit by 11pm.
    • The plan is to run these extended gate hours from Monday, 2/22 through Thursday, 2/25.
    • The additional hours are in place to assist with getting cargo moving again.
    • The usage of the extended hours will be monitored and verified if to be continued the following day. If gate volumes prove to be very low during these extended evening hours, adjustment may be made back to normal business hours.
    • Communication from the terminal each day to confirm the gate hours for the following day.
  • Not all reefer vendors will be available.
  • Empty Depots (Houston Terminals, Terminal Link, C-PA) will be open and available.
  • Import Storage - February 15-19 will be counted as free days towards import storage calculations.

Vessels

  • Houston
    • Bay Port: 2 vessels currently alongside working. Next vessel, Sealand Washington is expected to come on Feb 26th.
    • Barbours Cut: 1 vessel currently alongside working. Next vessel, Maersk Yangtze is scheduled for Feb 24th/1900.

Land

Warehousing

  • Southeast US
    • All distribution centers and warehouses operating as normal.
  • Texas
    • Warehouses operating as normal.

Trucking

  • Memphis and Nashville will continue to be delayed throughout week 8. Conditions have improved.

Rail

  • BNSF Santa Fe (Houston) & Alliance (Fort Worth) are open but operating at minimum capacity. Due to low productivity of container pick up, the ramp at Alliance is becoming congested.
  • Atlanta – gate closed to BNSF westbound due to weather holds in west. Otherwise, no issues. Need pick-ups to clear notify units.
  • Weather-related regional delays in Tennessee causing delays; CSX is requesting for intermodal customers to expedite freight pickups, as safety permits, at all CSX Intermodal Terminals in order to maintain terminal fluidity network-wide.
  • Nashville is short on chassis but will still need pick-ups as soon as possible to alleviate the congestions.
  • KCS has opened up lanes & ingates from the ports into their Dallas/Wylie ram.

Midwest and Central US & Canada

Land

Warehousing

  • All distribution centers and warehouses operating as normal.

Trucking

  • Congestion continues at most rail ramps in the Midwest due to the winter storm and increased volume. Chicago has been mainly shutdown for the past two days with high accumulation of snow. LPC (BNSF) is faced with severe congestion which is causing further truck delays.

Rail

  • Chicago - still recovering from winter storm (approximately 12-18 inches early in the week). Terminals generally clear but slow loading as snow/ice needing removal from rail cars. Snow/Ice in wells of cars. Cold temperatures expected the balance of the week with no new precipitation. Need pick-ups as soon as possible to alleviate congestion.
  • Chicago – CSX Bedford Park and 59th Street will be closely monitoring out-gates and reservations may be limited this week due to high ground counts.
  • Chicago – NSRR Landers to Detroit closed gates at 17:00 hours 2/18 due to weather.
  • Detroit – similar to Chicago. Cold temps but generally operating normal. Need pick-ups.
  • Columbus, Cleveland, Northwest Ohio– Cold temps. DCLI chassis shortages at Columbus. Need pick-ups at all locations.
  • Cincinnati/Louisville/Indianapolis – some weather impacts expected but low impact to the operation.
