Today we are seeing near blizzard conditions in much of the Northeast United States. With snow expected to reach up to 24” in much of the region, heavy winds and coastal impact, we would like to keep you updated on our logistics operations in the region.
Newark and surrounding NY area
Warehousing & Distribution: Today Feb 1, most Distribution Center operations in the Northeast started with Distribution operations open, however experienced high absenteeism. NJ State of Emergency as been declared and we expect the situation to worsen into the evening as snowfall is forecasted to be sustained.
Trucking: With ocean terminal gates currently closed in the Newark and Philadelphia, trucking companies are currently having issues delivering and returning cargo today (Feb 1). We are staying in constant touch with the community and strategizing what we can do to help the congestion in the areas once they have recovered from the storm.
Rail:
- Kearny, NJ: Open
- Worcester, MA: Open
- Columbus to Newark rail corridor: CSX is holding trains in this corridor due to impact of snow.
Terminal:
- PNCT was closed today Feb 1 and has also closed tomorrow, Feb 2. PNCT will have Saturday gate hours Feb 6 from 0700 AM-1500 PM.
- APMT Gate will be closed Mon. Feb 1 & Tue. Feb 2 due to snow storm. Gate will be open for extended hours; until 1700 PM from Wed. Feb 3 thru Fri. Feb 5. APMT is planning on being OPEN on Sat. Feb 6 for regular hours, 0600 AM to 1600 PM.
- GCT New York - Howland Hook was closed today and closed tomorrow Feb 2 as well.
Vessels: APMT and PNCT terminals plan to resume vessel operations tomorrow at 1900 ET, pending review first thing tomorrow morning (Feb 2). The US Coast guard has closed the harbor channel to NY/NJ ports.
Philadelphia area
Trucking: Trucking companies are currently having issues delivering and returning cargo today (Feb 1). We are staying in constant touch with the community and strategizing what we can do to help the congestion in the areas once they have recovered from the storm.
Rail: Normal operating hours.
Terminals: Packer Ave Terminal is currently closed and gates expected to open for regular working hours on Tues Feb 2.
Vessels: Operations will resume on February 2 1100 ET. The Maersk Izmir is scheduled to work on Feb 4 at 0700 ET.
Baltimore and DC area
Warehousing & Distribution: No impact at this time
Trucking: No impact at this time.
Rail: Normal operating hours
Terminal: Gates were closed today, but they will open tomorrow Feb 2 0700 -1645.
Vessels: Seagirt Terminal is working for vessel operations (currently no vessels alongside, because none arrived today).
Chicago area
Warehousing & Distribution: The Elwood facility was closed yesterday, Jan 30, but is back to normal operations today, Feb 1. Hudd Distribution was impacted by the 12” of snow and hazardous conditions over the weekend, however they are only one day behind in delivery.
