We would like to remind that we are now on the 3rd month of the adjustment period given to comply with the 6 HS code requirement. Kindly note that Philippine customs has given 6 months adaption period only. Penalties for non-compliance will be imposed 6 months after the effectivity date.
In line with this, kindly advise the shipper to start to include the 6 HS code in Cargo description right after the specific commodity and in our HS code field in website for all the cargo arriving Philippines on and after 15th April 2020.
For proper guidance on how to update the 6 HS code in the bill of lading/shipping instruction please refer to below.
A. For single commodity
- Input the 6 HS code before specifying the cargo description of the commodity.
Example: 220720 – Ethanol - Upon final shipping instruction (SI) submission in Maersk website, update the 6 HS code in the specified field as below.

B. For multiple commodity
- Input the 6 HS code before specifying the cargo description of each commodity group.
Example: 293399 - Mebendazole and parbendazole, 282710 - Ammonium Chloride - Upon final SI submission in Maersk website, update the 6 HS code of the commodity with the biggest component in the specified field mentioned above.
Note: Failure to update the HS code in the specified field will be resulted to SI rejection starting April 15, 2020. This is for strict compliance.
