Updates on strikes in France impacting the transportation sector

23 January 2020

In light of the recent strikes in France against the proposed pension reform, we would like to provide you with below update on the situation and how it can potentially affect your cargo flows.

The ongoing nationwide strikes affect all forms of transport across the entire country impacting the whole transportation sector, including Maersk’s ocean and inland services. As consequence, we are seeing significant disruptions to our network in both North and South of France. Recent attempts at arbitration and mitigating the situation have been unsuccessful and we therefore expect further delays and disruptions.

At Le Havre, our primary port in the North, there are no strikes currently announced.

At Fos-sur-Mer, our primary port in the South, a dockworker strike is currently announced for Wednesday, 19th February at 20:00 until Thursday, 20th February at 20:00. A similar tug boat strike is currently announced for Thursday, 20th February at 06:00 until Saturday, 21st February at 06:00.

Further information will be shared as soon as available. We encourage you to visit this page regularly to follow further updates on the situation.
