The ongoing nationwide strikes affect all forms of transport across the entire country impacting the whole transportation sector, including Maersk’s ocean and inland services. As consequence, we are seeing significant disruptions to our network in the South of France. Recent attempts at arbitration and mitigating the situation have been unsuccessful and we therefore expect further delays and disruptions.

With the aim to minimize the impact to our customers supply chain and provide predictability, Maersk is making a structural change and securing alternative routings. The possible options are:

IMPORT

  • Release the containers in Genoa or Barcelona to further delivery at customer’s discretion (B/L termination). This is the default option
  • Reload containers from impacted vessels to feeders for further delivery to Fos-Sur-Mer

EXPORT

  • Load containers on feeders from Fos-Sur-Mer for further connection in other ports

In order to keep providing you with our global services, Maersk is introducing a Congestion Surcharge in Fos-Sur-Mer as follows:

Export Cargo (CFO): The applicable tariffs will be USD 125/250/250 (EUR 120/240/240) for 20’/40’/45’ (DRY & REEF). The surcharge will be effective 24 January 2020 for non-regulated corridors and 15 February 2020 for Regulated corridors. Effective date is based on Price Calculation Date.

Import Cargo (CFD): The applicable tariffs will be USD 300 / 600 / 600 (EUR 290 / 580 / 580) for 20’/40’/45’ (DRY & REEF). The surcharge will be effective 24 January 2020 for non-regulated corridors and 15 February 2020 for Regulated corridors. Effective date is based on Discharge Date.

For your reference, we have also included the levels and rate structure for sample corridor from Jawaharlal Nehru to Fos Sur Mer and from Fos Sur Mer to Jawaharlal Nehru, valid from today until further notice. These may be subject to future change, however we will make sure to notify you accordingly.

  • The above rates are also subject to other applicable surcharges, including local charges and contingency charges.
  • The above surcharge acronym mean: OF (Ocean Freight), OHC (Origin Terminal Handling Charge), DHC (Destination Terminal Handling Charge), ERS (Emergency Risk Surcharge), BAF (Bunker Adjustment Factor), LSS (Low Sulfur Surcharge), EFF (Environmental Fuel Fee) and PSS (Peak Season Surcharge).
  • These rates are unaffected by, and do not affect, any tariff notified, published or filed in accordance with local regulatory requirements.
  • For trades subject to the US Shipping Act or the China Maritime Regulations, quotations or surcharge that vary from the Maersk tariff shall not be binding on Maersk unless included in a service contract or service contract amendment that has been filed with the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) or the Shanghai Shipping Exchange as applicable.

We appreciate your business and look forward to continuing working with you in the future.
