Due to constraints on haulage regulation, the max payload per truck has been restricted to 28 tons. Given rates for light 20’ dry containers (equal to or below 14 tons) are subject to coupling - 20’ coupling rates are applicable only if 2x20’ matching units are available. In case there is no 20’ to couple with, the client will have the option to pay additional charges until a 20’ unit is found or else to move his 20’ on a single move with the rate of 20’ single (equivalent to 20’ heavy container- above 14 tons). All in All, in case of receiving an odd number of 20’ on a work order, MAERSK declines all responsibilities regarding storage, and demurrage resulting from the time spent in the port due to the non-availability of a 20’ coupling unit on a truck.
Inland Handling Import (IHI) and Intermodal Fuel Surcharges (IFS) are always paid together with freight
