This message is to notify you that US Customs and Border Protection recently announced plans to increase UFLPA enforcement efforts through the deployment of a new Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) requirement. While this update is planned to take effect in December 2022, USCBP has recently acknowledged extending the timeline of this new deployment.

This update will require a new mandatory data element for entries of goods that originate in China. As part of USCBP’s enforcement efforts of the Uyghur Forced Labor Protection Act (UFLPA), a valid postal code will effectively become a “required field” when “Country of Origin” is China for Entry and for Manufacturer Identification Code (MID) creation. Users should expect to receive an error message if a valid postal code is not provided and can also expect to receive a warning message if a postal code from the Uyghur region of China is provided. This new requirement is also expected to impact EDI.

As discussions around the timeline of this deployment develop, we will continue to provide you with updates on the new requirements as they are made available by USCBP.
