Kindly note, effective 3rd December 2022, several changes have been made to the SPOT penalty fees. These are for scenarios where customers either change the origin or destination location in shipment, or request for a change in equipment type or size.
The scenarios are as listed below, while the SPOT Terms and Conditions are updated and published on Terms for SPOT Booking as well.
1. Amendment Fee for Change of Location
When a change of location is requested for your SPOT shipment, the amendment fee will now be calculated based on the initial schedule’s corridor (based on origin-destination port pair), instead of the previous logic which was using the newly confirmed schedule’s amendment fee calculated (based on new origin-destination). For a full break down of amendment fee, refer to the SPOT Terms and Conditions page, “7. Commitments and Damages” where latest “Fees” can be downloaded in an excel document. With this change, customers can be assured of a consistent amendment fee, as initially reflected when booking was first confirmed.
2. Cancellation or No Show Fee for Equipment Changes
For any scenario where a change in equipment type or size of containers is requested for your SPOT shipment, please note that those containers removed from shipment will incur a cancellation fee or no show fee – depending if the customer’s request was made within at least 7 days prior, or less than 7 days from the estimated date of departure (ETD), respectively. For scenario examples of this fee taking place, please refer to the SPOT Terms and Conditions page, “Schedule 2 : Booking Cancellation and Amendment Details”. This change will help upkeep mutual commitment on containers booked for SPOT shipments, where if containers were first reserved but later removed from shipment, will then incur penalties.
