The early 2020s have been defined by change and complexity with supply chains needing elasticity, helping companies to speed up and down, pivoting and moving with changing consumer needs and habits.

The trend of unpredictability is one that seems to be here for the long run.

Never has it been more evident that working with a logistical partner that knows how to infuse flexibility into your supply chain and provides integrated end-to-end solutions is key to navigating the shifting waters of 2020s.

Solution orientated supply chains

Whilst dynamics outside of supply chains aren’t something that companies can control, there are ways to safeguard against them. Working with an integrated end to end logistics partner like Maersk means that when these interruptions and changes occur, you have the necessary mobility to pivot and react accordingly. It allows you to build a more solution-orientated, resilient supply chain that fits your changing needs.

As a company that strives to bring ease, connectivity and simplicity to customer’s supply chains, offering fully integrated supply chain options with greener solutions, a controlled asset network and digital solutions, A.P. Moller- Maersk is honoured to be named as a Leader in the 2023 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Third-Party Logistics, Worldwide.

Gartner evaluates each provider based on their Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision. According to the report, “supply chain leaders responsible for logistics can use this research to assess these 3PLs when considering outsourcing their logistics operations”.

More reach with a controlled asset network

Maersk goal is to become the integrated end to end supply chain partner to customers. One of the ways we are doing this is by continuously improving and developing our logistical solutions whilst offering more ease and simplicity. The integration of all our companies under one brand, Maersk, gives our customers more centralised access to products and services, whilst also having access to a controlled asset network, giving them much more control over their supply chain moves, whether they need to speed up or slow down.

Our multimodality offering, including air, inland and ocean options, allows customers the ability to react to changes swiftly, all under one roof. A fragmented supply chain limits the ability to meet business goals; our controlled asset network filled with multimodality solutions offers immediate moves when and how you need them, helping you unleash the value that will take you and your business to the next level.

Exploring omnichannel and 3PL

The pandemic brought many changes, including shifts in consumer buyer habits. Dark stores, growth in e-commerce, lowered footfall in physical stores were just some of the changes we saw. Companies working with a 3PL supply chain partner who could help them with a full omnichannel set up in their supply chain were the ones that adapted quickest. As we slowly begin to see the aftermath of the pandemic, omnichannel expertise remains not only relevant, but as a key strength for companies.

From brick-and-mortar stores to e-commerce, Maersk Omnichannel Fulfilment services enable a fully integrated and seamless shopping experience for your end-consumers across multiple touchpoints. Maersk Omnichannel Fulfilment allows businesses to efficiently execute the order fulfilment process across all the channels and gives them the flexibility to manage their supply chain. In addition, Maersk offers a wide range of configurable value-added services to meet your business’ every need, enhancing your competitiveness by ensuring the goods leaves our warehouses with every little detail taken care of to bring delight to your customers.

Paving the green path

As a leader of greener logistics, Maersk believes in offering low GHG emissions solutions for customers.

Maersk remains steadfast in its pledge to bring greener solutions to customers. This includes 50% reduction in emissions per transported container in the Maersk Ocean fleet and a 70% reduction in absolute emissions from fully controlled terminals by 2030. Included in this pledge is also to have 25%of all cargo transported on green fuel, with a minimum of 30% of cargo transported by air will use sustainable aviation fuel. Distribution centres, warehouses and depots will have a minimum of 90% green operations and 20% inland transport will be on low or 0-emission fuels by 2030.

At the core of every move Maersk makes, is customer-centricity and bringing ease to our customers’ businesses. The Emissions Dashboard allows customers to calculate their delivery, giving them access enhanced carbon footprint analysis report and insights on optimisation across all carriers and modes. Maersk ECO Delivery allows companies to meet their ambitious decarbonisation targets, with multiple logistics options with more sustainable solutions.

The first green methanol enabled feeder will be in play from September 2023, and 18 large green fuel vessels will be launched in 2024-2025. 126 electrical trucks have joined the North American fleet in the beginning of 2023, and additional 300 electrical trucks, set to be delivered between 2023 and 2025, to be used by our North American warehousing, distribution, and transportation business.

Our air solutions joined United’s Eco-Skies Alliance in autumn 2021; we are committed to using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for transporting cargo through the skies. We utilise technology to strengthen our sustainability offering so we can ensure that our customers are up to date on their output as well as where they can make changes.

Technological programs like Maersk Flow, Maersk NeoNav and Maersk Captain Peter allow for visibility and overview and Maersk digital platform gives our customers the possibility to book services online.

Integrated supply chains wins for you

A supply chain partner should bring ease and simplicity to you and your business. One of the things that the complexity of the early 2020s has taught us is that supply chains are interconnected and not linear. They are webs, interacting with other supply chains, that react to changes and shifts.

A strong end to end integrated logistical partner like Maersk can guide you through the tangles, giving you the time focus on what matters: your business and your growth. It’s about finding ways to optimise flow, be it speeding up, slowing down or hitting pause.

To me, this is an important milestone for AP Moller-Maersk to be named a Leader for the second consecutive time in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Third-Party Logistics, Worldwide report and I am proud of this recognition. As an end to end supply chain partner, our goal is to continue to offer our customers more sustainable, digitised and innovative solutions that add value and ease to our customer’s supply chains, and we hold this recognition from Gartner in high esteem. We have taken further steps to offer our customer truly integrated logistics, by integrating our companies and centralising our offering under one brand, infusing their supply chains with simplicity and ease for the future.
