Shipping is the process of physically moving goods from one location to another — for example, from a manufacturer's warehouse to a customer. It can apply to a single small parcel or a bulk commercial shipment, and may be handled directly by the shipper or through a carrier, freight forwarder, or logistics provider such as Maersk.

Shipping can happen via several modes — ocean, road, air, and rail. Learn more in our Logistics Explained guide, "Modes of transportation in logistics: Which is right for your logistics needs?", or explore Maersk's Transportation Services to find the right solution for your business.
