Hamburg Süd, along with many of our other brands, is unifying with Maersk. This will enable us to offer customers an even greater range of transportation products and services plus an unmatched combination of our controlled asset network and new digital platforms. to support your business growth.
Here’s a summary of what will change:
- In the coming months, Hamburg Süd customers will be carried over to the Maersk environment.
- Once your business is carried over, we will change to serving you using the Maersk name.
- Physical assets and offices will gradually transition to carrying the Maersk logo and colours.
- Our Hamburg Süd social media accounts and newsletters will be phased out and customers will be served by content on the Maersk equivalents.
Some things will not change. As part of this unifications, we are incorporating key elements from Hamburg Süd into Maersk. That means carrying over our commitment to always being ‘by your side’ and, wherever possible, your Sales and Customer Experience representative will stay the same.
The decision to unify Hamburg Süd with the Maersk brand was made with you, our customers, at its centre. The benefits we can offer through unifying with Maersk include but are not limited to:

The process of carrying customers over to the Maersk environment will be staggered over the coming months. When the time comes to begin the process of carrying over your business, you will be notified by email. Your Sales and Customer Service representatives will guide you through every step of the way and make sure you have everything you need for smooth transition.
Specific details of any actions you need to take will be outlined by your Sales and CX representatives. This includes registering with Maersk.com, if you have not already done so. These representatives are also available to answer any additional questions you might have.
Once your business has been successfully carried over to Maersk, you will receive a confirmation email from our Customer Experience team. It will include all the information you need to transition to booking, managing, and tracking your shipments with Maersk. Both your Sales and Customer Experience representatives will be available to answer any questions you might have and to help you get familiar with the benefits of this unification and how your business can capitalise on them.
Your Customer Experience and Sales staff will contact you by email to guide you through the process of being carried over to Maersk. They will also confirm when this process is complete and you can begin to book with Maersk.
We encourage you to register on Maersk.com in advance, so that you are ready to start using the platform and can access the expanded range of transportation products and services when you have been successfully carried over.

Once your business is successfully carried over from Hamburg Süd to the Maersk environment, you can start the transition to booking via Maersk. You will keep as many as the terms, conditions, and rates in your current contracts and agreements with Hamburg Süd as possible. In the event that any changes are needed, your Sales representative will contact you to let you know and work with you to ensure you get the best terms available for your business.
If you use EDI and API connections with a third-party provider, you need to inform this third party once you have received an email to confirm your business has been successfully carried over to the Maersk environment. Once this happens, our teams will guide through switching to booking via Maersk EDI channel.
We recommend that you keep your other accounts active so that you can continue to receive updates and information on previous and current shipments. We have asked third party providers to continue to send you EDI cargo status messages until those shipments are complete.
The goal of this unification with Maersk is to offer customers a wider range of transportation products and logistical services. While some customers will opt for integrated logistics, we understand that others will prefer to only access certain elements.

Invoices issued before your business is carried over to Maersk should be paid as specified on those invoices.
In uniting Hamburg Süd with the Maersk brand, we will now be able to offer you Maersk’s extensive suite of products and services, adding increased visibility and control in your global supply chain. There may be some changes to the offering, but the goal is to ultimately bring you more options for your supply chain and to offer you more modality and fewer restrictions.

They are available to discuss your specific needs and offer more information on the products and services that may be of use to you.
Our current network design is brand agnostic and therefore will not be affected by the brand unification.
The allocation and rolling protection processes have in the past not been the same for all our brands. However, when we compare the actual reliability and outcome data, we only see very few variances across the brands.
Your new your allocation filings will follow your new contract and be aligned across our teams. It is our expectation that the process alignment will not result in any material difference to the reliability you will experience in the future.
Through this change, you will gain the ability to follow your allocation filings and consumption of your allocation through the functionality on Maersk.com.
We will further improve the allocation protection logic to follow your Origin and Destination forecasts. In situations of unexpected demand, bad weather or other unforeseen challenges, we will continue to do our utmost to minimize delays and keep you informed of any impact.
We are gradually onboarding customers to Maersk services represented by Maersk agents. The Hamburg Süd shipments will be handled by your current TPA representation until your business is carried over, and you can begin booking through Maersk.
