About the Role
The Power Electrical Technician helps ensure a reliable, safe and sustainable power supply across the terminal. Reporting to the Power Unit Supervisor, this role supports day‑to‑day power generation, distribution and electrical maintenance activities that keep operations running smoothly. The Technician works hands‑on with power generators, electrical systems and a wide range of industrial control equipment, providing technical support during breakdowns and contributing to improved equipment availability and resilience.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair power generators and electrical components of terminal power systems, ensuring high‑quality workmanship and compliance with safety standards
- Support breakdown response by providing specialist electrical expertise to restore equipment performance quickly
- Carry out troubleshooting, diagnostics and root‑cause identification for electrical faults
- Assist with preventive maintenance activities, including identifying required spare parts and tools
- Participate in shift and standby duties to maintain 24‑hour power availability with minimal outages
- Provide support in deploying, removing and safely stowing equipment, using safe driving and handling techniques
- Follow safety procedures, ensure proper waste disposal and help maintain a clean, organized workspace
- Report defective tools and equipment and recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability and availability
- Encourage teamwork and contribute to the development of better maintenance practices within the Power Unit and wider maintenance team
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor, maintaining a positive and proactive attitude
Qualifications
- Trade Test or HND in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- Experience with industrial power generator electrical systems is an advantage
- Familiarity with CAT diagnostic tools is beneficial
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic equipment, industrial control systems, variable drive systems, and hydraulic/pneumatic controls
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals, parts manuals and technical diagrams
- Skilled in troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical issues
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to evolving equipment and systems
