About the Role
The Maintenance Scheduler plays a key role in keeping terminal operations running smoothly and safely. This person ensures that preventive and corrective maintenance for all equipment—including RTGs, reach stackers, cranes, tractors, and supporting facilities—is planned, coordinated and executed efficiently. By managing schedules, optimizing workflows and reducing downtime, the Maintenance Scheduler helps maintain high equipment availability and contributes directly to strong operational performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain daily, weekly, monthly and annual maintenance schedules for all terminal equipment and facilities
- Prioritize work orders based on equipment criticality, operational impact and safety considerations
- Coordinate closely with Operations, Stores, Maintenance Supervisors and external contractors to ensure timely and efficient execution of work
- Issue, track and close work orders in the CMMS while keeping accurate records of parts, labour and maintenance history
- Monitor key maintenance KPIs—including MTBF, MTTR, equipment availability, backlog and schedule compliance—and prepare performance reports
- Plan and manage major shutdowns, equipment overhauls and outages, ensuring risk control and minimal operational disruption
- Ensure all maintenance activities follow safety policies, environmental standards and vendor/service requirements
- Support root-cause investigations for recurring issues and help implement reliability improvements
- Coach and guide maintenance teams on schedule adherence, documentation standards and best practices
- Manage contractor scopes, permits, timelines and quality checks when outsourced work is required
Qualifications
- HND or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Marine Engineering (or a related field)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance planning or scheduling within ports, container terminals, aviation or heavy industrial environments
- Strong experience working with CMMS platforms (IFS, SAP or similar)
- Solid understanding of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance concepts
- Familiarity with spare parts planning, inventory and procurement processes
- Knowledge of relevant local safety and regulatory standards for the West African port environment (advantageous)
