The right partnership opens up for new possibilities

To Filippo Milanese, long-term commitments gives companies the space to think holistically about more challenging topics.

“Committed partnerships between companies give the possibility to act on long-term goals as well as provide a safe space for sparring”
— Filippo Milanese, Chief Purchasing Officer of Electrolux

Filippo Milanese knows what he expects from a partnership: to be challenged in a positive way is a priority but also having a safe space to develop new ideas reaching for the same goals. Friendly pushbacks and the will to advance is also a part of a good partnership.

Founded over 100 years ago and headquartered in Stockholm Sweden, Electrolux is one of the world’s largest home appliance makers. Having pledged to have their full value chain carbon neutral by 2050, Electrolux has had to look for new solutions to reach their target.

The pledge and the partnership with Maersk were the background for fostering the “Green Fuel Project”. A collaboration seeking to reduce carbon emissions through shipping of goods using biofuel (Maersk ECO Delivery).

“The Green Fuel Project was possible because there was a long-term partnership as a base of this commercial deal between Maersk and Electrolux. Without that base we could not have developed thoughts on how we could make the planet a better place to live”, Milanese says about why the partnership with Maersk has been so valuable to both parties.

"Becoming partners requires trust and openness as well as a shared vision. Once you have that, partnerships create additional value for the parties involved. The long-term commitment gives companies the space to think holistically about more challenging topics like sustainability, innovation, and future developments overall." says Milanese, when asked to define the relationship between Maersk and Electrolux.

“There are not so many companies working like we are. And this has absolutely created a competitive advantage in a market as complex and volatile as the one we face today”, Milanese determines.
