Dansk Supermarked was established in 1964 following a partnership agreement between Herman Salling and A.P. Møller and since then, Dansk Supermarked Group has grown to be Denmark’s largest retail group.

“It has been an honor for us to have been part of the very successful journey for more than five decades. In that light, it is particularly important for us to have facilitated an excellent Danish solution where one of the largest private employer in Denmark continues to have its headquarter in Aarhus. The last three years have proven that this solution was the right solution for Salling, for Dansk Supermarked and for our shareholders,” says Søren Skou, CEO of A.P. Moller - Maersk.

In the agreement from 2014 when A.P. Moller - Maersk handed over control of Dansk Supermarked Group to the Salling Companies, it was anticipated that the remaining stake would be sold in 2019. Now, less than four years later the Salling Companies are able to complete the final transaction as Dansk Supermarked Group has performed well despite a challenging business environment. A. P. Moller - Maersk will receive DKK 5.530m from the sale of its shares, valuing the shares of Dansk Supermarked Group higher than in 2014.

Closing is expected to take place before end of 2017.
