Maersk Group CEO: Strategy on track

A year after the launch of the five-year strategy, the Group CEO takes stock of the progress and outlines the Group’s focus points for the rest of 2012.

“The strategy and the attention to the four core strategic businesses has given encouraging results.

Basically, Maersk Oil and APM Terminals are ahead of plans and Maersk Drilling is progressing according to plans.

Of course, the development in container freight rates and profitability for Maersk Line has disappointed us, but we have taken a step back, initiated a restructuring plan and are working to get freight rates back to sustainable levels.

Although we are not as well positioned as we hoped to be a year ago, the early signs are positive and I am optimistic that Maersk Line will be in a much stronger position in a year’s time,” Group CEO Nils S. Andersen says, summing up the past year, which has seen the Group committing investments of more than USD 12 billion in these businesses.
