Please note that due to previous issues (crane repairs and berth construction) combined with the impact from Tropical storms this week of Marco and Laura - we are expecting major delays in the New Orleans and Houston terminals over the next two weeks.
Teams are reviewing contingency options, including potential omission and port swaps.
Tropical Storm Marco is just 50 miles south of Louisiana – and weakening but will continue along the northern Gulf Coast into Tuesday, bringing storm surge, heavy rainfall and gusty winds. New Orleans is at port condition ZULU and will remain closed until at least Tuesday. Depending on the path of Tropical Storm Laura we could see the closure extended. Mobile is open and operating under port contention X-RAY. Houston will set port condition X-RAY and close the channel for incoming traffic as of Monday, August 24th at 1600 hrs.
Tropical Storm Laura is expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico on Monday – and likely strengthen into a hurricane, making landfall as a category 1 or 2 mid-week. The current path is still uncertain - but we expect to see an impact in both New Orleans and Houston. Depending on the path we could see the New Orleans closure extended and a closure for both Houston terminals as early as Wednesday, August 26th morning.
