Cargo in transit to inland locations must be always arranged by account and risk of consignee and transit clause must be presented on B/L body.
Cargoes with NCM (NOMENCLATURA COMUN DEL MERCOSUR) 3808 must have as final discharge port (Villeta PYASUVI), due to Customs regulations - Resolution N°18 DNA.
Originals B/L must be surrendered by consignee for any cargo with final delivery in Paraguay to receive from Maersk’s Agent in Paraguay – Interocean S.R.L. the River B/Ls and cargo release.
If one container is manifested in more than one B/L, all B/Ls for one (1) container must have one (1) same consignee.
Paraguay Customs will not release containers under one Bill of Lading unless the whole lot arrives in the same vessel.
Weight on the Bill of Lading must be shown in kilograms.
Guaranty letter must be presented in Asuncion to obtain cargo release. Letter must be signed in company’s letterhead, endorsed by general manager / director and Customs’ broker. Letter must also be certified by public notary when cargo has a unipersonal consignee.
Documentation: B/Ls with consignee “TO ORDER” or with foreign consignee are not allowed for Paraguay import, and neither B/Ls with data from foreign banks not located in Paraguay. Import cargoes must have a local customer as consignee.
Paraguay Customs will reject cargoes with generic description. B/Ls must count with an extensive description of cargo and the correct NCM.
Maersk’s Agent in Paraguay – Interocean S.R.L. does not accept NON-NEGOTIABLE / SEA WAY BILL / WAY BILL or TELEX RELEASE. Only “Negotiable B/L Shipped on board” document types are acceptable for Paraguay imports.
Import of used cars: On details of B/Ls, shipper must specify Chassis Number, Brand and Model.
As it is stated in AFIP’s General Resolution 2744 and 2879 from Argentina’s Customs office, NCM must be declared in transshipment manifest for all shipments with transshipment taking place in Argentina.
Used tires: Are NOT accepted for any import shipment to Asuncion, Paraguay.
Used vehicles: Paraguayan authorities only allow import shipments of vehicles manufactured within the last 10 years.
Firearms and weapons: The following commodities are prohibited:
a) Firearms, Pistols, Machine guns, Hand guns, Rifles, Ammunition/Bullets thereof, and those parts
b) Explosive substances
c) Gunpowder, Dynamite
d) Precursor Material for Chemical Weapon
Gas lighters IMO 2.1: NOT accepted for any import shipment to Asuncion.
Fireworks IMO 1.4: NOT accepted for any import shipment to Asuncion.
Explosives IMO 1.3: NOT accepted for any import shipment to Asuncion.
Radioactive Cargo IMO 7: NOT accepted for any import shipment to Asuncion
Resolution N°03 - DNA
From February 1st all documents (Bill of Lading, Commercial Invoice, Packing list, Origin certificate, etc.) must be consularized at Paraguayan Consulate in the country of origin.
Personal effects shipments
Due to complexity of business and cargo release, we have decided (with immediate effect) to NO longer accept personal effects in Paraguay and/or household goods shipments with final destination Paraguay.
All cargoes with personal effects/household goods identified with final destination Paraguay will be returned to origin with no exception.
45´foot containers: Are NOT accepted for any import shipment to Asuncion.
Maersk offers FLC (full containers) service only.
