Procedures

General booking procedures

The bookings have to be placed either:

  • via email to the following address: cmrcusexp@maersk.com
  • via our booking application on the WEB at www.maerskline.com
  • via our booking application if you use Desktop Solution
  • via fax: +237 33 42 11 86

Booking details have to be submitted in writing and have to contain all valid details like:

  • cargo details (commodity, weight, measurement etc)
  • container size
  • number and type of containers to be booked
  • discharging port
  • vessel (and voyage) to ship on
  • haulage details

And any other important information

For carrier haulage bookings, we need a minimum of two days notice prior to the positioning date. Otherwise we cannot guarantee you to arrange your positioning as booked

General documentation procedures

Shipping instructions have to be sent to Maersk Cameroon through one of the following ways:

  • Via our Shipping Instruction application if you use Desktop Solution
  • Via fax to: +237 33 42 11 86

Please note that by using the email or the fax, your instruction are completely retyped and by using shipping instruction application on the web or on desktop solution, the instructions are taken over and are not changed in any way, unless further notice from you.

Restrictions

Routing:

Direct Bill of Lading is accepted for delivery to N'djamena / Moundou in Chad. Delivery to site is performed by Maersk Logistics. The transit time from Douala to Chad is approximately at best 21 days

  • 7 days lay over in Douala for customs purposes
  • 3 days train from Douala to Ngaoundere
  • 5 days trucking in convey from Ngaoundere railway station to Ndjamena. Please note the rainy season is from April to September.

Weight / Measurement:

Cargo must be less than or equal to 22 tons for 20' dry container and less than or equal to 28 tons for 40' dry container including tara.

Special cargoes:

  • Out of Gauge and Break Bulk are subject to Maersk Line's prior approval. cmrsaldirimp@maersk.com
  • No reefer acceptance to Chad
  • Direct Bill of Lading is accepted to Ndjamena and Moundou
  • Port of discharge is Douala
  • Delivery service is CY

Equipment:

No acceptance of aluminium containers, reefer containers and 45' containers.

Payment / Currency:

  • All charges must be prepaid at Origin
  • No freight collection in N'djamena or Moundou / Douala or else subject to Maersk Line's prior approval: cmrsaldirimp@maersk.com
  • Payat currency is Franc CFA (XAF) 1 EUR = 656 XAF

Others:

Please note that transit from Douala to Chad may vary from 3 to 4 weeks depending on the season, due to bad roads.

For inbound cargo, all commercial papers (invoices and packing lists) have to be sent to Douala by Fax to +237 33 42 11 86 or sent by email to cmrcsigen@maersk.com
