Additional driver Export (SDE)

This service covers the cost to use an additional driver for the inland export move, in order to reduce the transit time of long-haul trucking corridors (in many countries there are regulations in place regarding the maximum number of hours the drivers are allowed to drive).

Additional driver Import (SDI)

This service covers the cost to use an additional driver for the inland import move, in order to reduce the transit time of long-haul trucking corridors (in many countries there are regulations in place regarding the maximum number of hours the drivers are allowed to drive).

Additional Export Service (ASE)

This charge ASE - Additional Export Service Fee is applicable whenever there is no other charge available for the specific occasion or service provided. Usage of this charge is not permitted in cases where there is a standard charge matching the provided service. *As of June 2017, approval from CEN must be obtained before using this charge.

Inland Additional Export Service (IAE)

It covers any additional ad hoc costs that might occur during the export inland move that are not covered in our surcharge portfolio (please check the trigger tab for more details)

Additional Export Service (ASI)

This charge ASI - Additional Import Service Fee is applicable whenever there is no other charge available for the specific occasion or service provided. Usage of this charge is not permitted in cases where there is a standard charge matching the provided service.

Air Ride Trailer Export (ATE)

This charge covers the service of providing an air ride trailer to the customer for the Export haulage move. An air ride trailer provides a smoother ride to ensure safety of fragile products.

Air Ride Trailer Import (ATI)

This charge covers the service of providing an air ride trailer to the customer for the Import haulage move. An air ride trailer provides a smoother ride to ensure safety of fragile products.

Bonded cargo service for inland transportation (IBC)

It covers the administration cost to arrange the transfer of a container to a bonded warehouse.

The actual transportation cost from/to terminal to/from the bonded warehouse should be covered via IHE/IHI

Booking Services (OBK)

Origin Booking Services (OBK) charge covers booking management performed by Maersk on behalf of the customer at the origin location. Customers can gain from time and cost efficiencies through using a single Point of Contact to simplify documentation management and stakeholder coordination. Easy and efficient with no need for the customer to be involved in firefighting service failures through the booking process.

Carbon Emission Export (CEE)

Carbon emission charge is a fee introduced to recover from customers any carbon fee Maersk has to pay to authorities. This fee is applied to all import/export bookings. The amount is be based on a fixed fee

Carbon Emission Import (CEI)

Cargo Insurance Cool - Bronze (ICB)

Maersk Cargo Insurance is an Institute Cargo Clauses A policy, which is also known as an "All-risk" policy. It has the widest possible coverage, as it can extend from warehouse to warehouse and everything in between, such as port to port or door to door. You can find more detail about ICC (A) here.

Consignee FT ext Demurrage (CDM)

To sell DMR Free time to customer who need additional free time at destination. This can be purchased by any customer who is party to the shipment or authorised by consignee to take DnD charges.

Consignee FT ext Detention (CDE)

To sell DET Free time to customer who need additional free time at destination. This can be purchased by any customer who is party to the shipment or authorised by consignee to take DnD charges.

Cancellation Fee (CLL)

This fee is applied to all cancelled bookings. The amount is be based on a fixed cancellation fee + any additional costs that have arisen before the container was cancelled. The cancellation fee would also be applied in cases of:

Reduced number of containers in a booking
Change of Vessel
No show
Cancellation of Garment On Hanger and other special equipment

Captain Peter – Integrated Package (CPI)

Captain Peter is a visibility product for Cold Chain customers. CPI is the charge for the Captain Peter Integrated package which gives customers access to:

Temperature, humidity and atmosphere levels of their live reefer shipments
GPS map
Datalog download
Personalized email notifications
24/7 chat support
Shared access with consignees and shippers
Raw datalog data push via an API interface

Captain Peter - Premium Package (CP2)

Captain Peter for RCM (Remote Container Management) is a monitoring product for reefer customers. Basic visibility is free of charge, but customers can purchase access to Premium features (download of datalog, 24/7 chat support, personalized notification etc.). This charge is applicable when customers have opted for the Captain Peter Premium service on their reefer shipment.

Cargo Risk Management (CRM)

Charge for providing services including but not limiting to extending contractual obligations, providing additional cargo security, and extended mitigation measures to reduce the exposure to the cargo against any perils / threats while the cargo is handled / operated / custody and control of Maersk or its affiliates.

Change of destination - Extra Restows (CED)

This is a service provided by carrier upon the customer’s request to amend the destination/delivery after a container is gated in at the port of origin, but prior to the arrival at the port of discharge. The charge involved wherever we have more restows require and, consequently, and extra cost associated and this cost includes only the cost incurred towards Change of Destination.

Change of Destination Service (COD)

This is a service provided by carrier upon the customer’s request to amend the destination/delivery after a container is gated in at the port of origin, but prior to the arrival at the port of discharge.This service will not apply in the following scenarios:- Re-export- Inland change request- Extending inland haulage (Imports process)Maersk may refuse this service if it is not operationally possible, or if any regulatory limitations exist.

Chassis Usage/4 Business Days (CU1)

Service of providing Chassis usage service to the customer for a period of 4 Business days.

Cold Chain Hypercare (CCC)

Cold Chain Hypercare is monitoring service including dedicated resources in a control tower setup coordinating with people on ground to reduce off-power periods and timely mitigate alarms. The service entails:

Prenotifications to terminals and vessels
Follow up on unattended alarms/off powers
Follow up on non-communicating shipments
Ensuring datalog availability upon arrival

Cold Store - Handling Activities - EXP (CHE)

Covers the service of stuffing the container at a Cold Store for export activities. Covers the service of stripping the container at a Cold Storage facility for import activities. Charge for all activities at a warehouse related to goods receipt and dispatch (combined service for Handling In and Handling Out).

Cold Store - Handling Activities - IMP (CHI)

Covers the service of stripping the container at a Cold Storage facility for import activities. Charge for all activities at a warehouse related to goods receipt and dispatch (combined service for Handling In and Handling Out).

Cold Store - Inspection Charge - EXP (CIE)

Export charge related to any inspection of the cargo or container which is done by a 3rd party, a government agency, or an authorized Damco/Maersk entity based on customer requirement. Service is performed as part of a bundle with cold storage/cross dock activities. Eg: Phytosanitary, Agricultural, Food Quality exam or a Quality control request by customer.

Cold Store - Inspection Charge - IMP (CII)

Import charge related to any inspection of the cargo or container which is done by a 3rd party, a government agency, or an authorized Damco/Maersk entity based on customer requirement. Service is performed as part of a bundle with cold storage/cross dock activities. Eg: Phytosanitary, Agricultural, Food Quality exam or a Quality control request by customer.

Cold store - Storage - EXP (CSE)

Export charge related to direct Cold Storage fees. Charge for cargo storage in the warehouse exceeding the freetime.

Cold Store - Supplied Materials - EXP (SME)

Export charges for materials provided at a cold store facility. Includes pallets, temp recorders, other packaging material (e.g. silica gel). Also covers airbags if required to secure cargo in a container or truck for delivery (also known as Dunnage bag and inflatable bags). For any other material provided at a cold store facility.

Cold Store - Supplied Materials - IMP (SMI)

Import Costs for materials provided at a cold store facility. Includes pallets, temp recorders, other packaging material (e.g. silica gel). Also covers airbags if required to secure cargo in a container or truck for delivery (also known as Dunnage bag and inflatable bags). For any other material provided at a cold store facility.

Cold store - Value added - EXP (CVE)

Export service, directly performed on pallet, box or product level (not on container). For more complex products which may require space and people. For example, Ripening, flow packing, labeling. Add value with manual labour.

Cold store - Value added - IMP (CVI)

Import service, directly performed on pallet, box or product level (not on container). For more complex products which may require space and people. For example, Ripening, flow packing, labeling. Add value with manual labour.

Cold Store - Warehousing Services - EXP (WSE)

Export charges for any other services performed at a cold store facility, such as rehandling, restacking, case pick, photos, lashing, etc. Includes constant storage temp checks, or other cold storage services that are not covered by any existing cold storage material code and which do not satisfy the criteria for having a new material code created, e.g. AMU (Asset Monitoring Unit) handling, Surveyor Charge, Measuring Fee, etc.

Cold Store - Warehousing Services - IMP (SEI)

Import Charge for any other services performed at a cold store facility, such as rehandling, restacking, case pick, photos, lashing, etc. Includes constant storage temp checks, or other cold storage services that are not covered by any existing cold storage material code and which do not satisfy the criteria for having a new material code created, e.g. AMU (Asset Monitoring Unit) handling, Surveyor Charge, Measuring Fee, etc.

Cold Store and Cross Dock - IMP (CSI)

Import charge related to direct Cold Storage fees. Charge for cargo storage in the warehouse exceeding the freetime.

Cold Treatment Service (CTS)

This is a cold treatment service specifically for countries with strict import regulations. This service exterminates fruit flies and larvae by maintaining a low temperature for a pre-determined length of time so that exporters can sell commodities to countries that would not otherwise accept the goods. This is applicable upon the customers' request and is subject to the carriers' acceptance.

Container Cleaning Imports (CCI)

The charge covers cleaning of a container after empty gate in based on need (penalty) and removal of special equipment within the cntr provided by Maersk (i.e liner bags, reefer bags, hangers etc). It does not cover "repairs and maintenance of container".

Container Nomination Service (CNS)

This service pre-assigns the container numbers to bookings. Please note that it does not cover assigning a container of a specific quality, for example: Food Grade.

Container Preparation – Other (CPP)

This service covers the preparing of the containers for the carriage of cargo; for e.g. hides and skins. The preparations are performed at a container yard (CY). These include manual lining of the container with plastic or moisture absorbent material, or insulation, and/or the installation of liner bags, as well as removal of the packing.

Container Protect Add-on (CP4)

This product is only to cover the upgrade from CP1 to CP3 for countries that have CP1 as mandatory.

Container Protect Essential (CP1)

This product covers container cleaning and repair cost within a certain limit that will be different base on the import countries.

Container Protect Unlimited (CP3)

This product covers container cleaning and repair cost with no limit the price will be different per import countries.

Container Shifting Origin (CSO)

This charge covers any additional operational expenses due to extra container moves for reasons like re-stacking because of change of destination or vessel or moving of container from load stack to gate. It does not cover moves for inspections, or to enable ad hoc stuffing/stripping. These are already included under the charges for those respective services.

Container Stripping Service (SPI)

We will de-stuff the following type of commodities in or out of your containers:
a)Bulk cargo - Commodities packed in bulk bags and or big bags
b)Palletized goods If required as per Cargo Acceptance Manual, we will secure your cargo in the container.
c) Cars

Container Stuffing Service (SPE)

We will stuff the following type of commodities in or out of your containers:
a) Bulk cargo - Commodities packed in bulk bags and or big bags
b) Palletized goods If required as per Cargo Acceptance Manual, we will secure your cargo in the container.
c) Cars

Container Weighing Origin (IWO)

This service covers the moving of the container to a weight station on the import side in order to confirm the actual container weight.

Cooling Service - Destination (DGS)

This service covers the supply of a genset (or any other cooling device) for the import inland move of refrigerated containers which provides a constant power supply to regulate the temperature of the refrigerated container. It is mandatory to provide a genset for refrigerated cargo if the inland transit time is more than 6 hours.

Cooling service - Origin (OGS)

This service covers the supply of a genset (or any other cooling device) for the export inland move of refrigerated containers which provides a constant power supply to regulate the temperature of the refrigerated container. It is mandatory to provide a genset for refrigerated cargo if the inland transit time is more than 6 hours.

Customs Clearance Destination (CCD)

This service ensures that all customs clearance documents and required formalities are handled by us on your behalf. For certain locations at destination, we often tie-up with third party agents for better efficiency. For inter-European cargo, this service is applicable upon the customers’ request and when they provide the required T2L documents.

Customs Clearance Origin (CCO)

This service ensures that all customs clearance documents and required formalities are handled by us on your behalf. For certain locations at origin, we often tie-up with third party agents for better efficiency. For inter-European cargo, this service is applicable upon the customers’ request and when they provide the required T2L documents.

Customs Navigator Fee - Destination (CND)

This service covers the cost of providing digital visibility services for customs clearance at destination. This is an add on to core customs clearance service charges.

Customs Navigator Fee - Origin (CNO)

This service covers the cost of providing digital visibility services for customs clearance at origin. This is an add on to core customs clearance service charges.

Customs Visibility Destination (CVD)

This reduced local documentation concerns for the customer that was time consuming and had local vendors involved causing communication delays and heavy fines to customer .hinterland ports where is challenges are higher for SPOT customer mainly this solution was highly time sensitive and cost marginal amount which customer happy to bear.

Customs Visibility Origin (CVO)

Maersk Cargo Care - Bronze (CRB)

Destination Non-Genset Use Charge (DNG)

A charge assessed when a Genset is not used for a reefrigerated container moving under CY delivery service.

Shipping Instruction Creator (DOS)

Doc Creator Solution will be charged for a service when customers upload own format of shipping instruction or other relevant documents i/o manually filling-up a Maersk format shipping instruction. Based on those document(s) Maersk produces a Bill of Lading verify copy.

De-coupling Export (EDC)

It is a VAS, applied when the trucker leaves the container (and the chassis when relevant) at the customer premises and (s)he collects the stuffed container later the same day or the day after. It should cover the cost of the second trucking trip only and applies for export moves.

De-coupling Import (IDC)

It is a VAS, applied when the trucker leaves the container (and the chassis when relevant) at the customer premises and (s)he collects the empty container later the same day or the day after. It should cover the cost of the second trucking trip only and applies for import moves.

DEPOT Full Container Storage - Destination (DCD)

This fee is cover the service provided by Maersk Depot (LnS) of depot storage. It is applicable when the customer uses Depot facilities at Destination to store containerized cargo as per agreed terms and contracts.
The fee is applicable to all containers that are stored in the facility. Applicable fees might vary by country and per container based contractual terms agreed with the customers.
Note: this is not the same as Maersk Ocean’s DnD service. Customer using depot storage service may still subject to detention so long customer has not yet return the empty container

DEPOT Full Container Storage - Origin (DCO)

This fee is cover the service provided by Maersk Depot (LnS) of depot storage. It is applicable when the customer uses Depot facilities at Origin to store containerized cargo as per agreed terms and contracts.
The fee is applicable to all containers that are stored in the facility. Applicable fees might vary by country and per container based contractual terms agreed with the customers.
Note: this is not the same as Maersk Ocean’s DnD service. Customer using depot storage service may still subject to detention so long customer has not yet return the empty container

Destination Certificate Charge (DCG)

This service issues certificates with respect to vessel age, vessel conditions, in-house ML certificates at destination, etc. Please note that it does not cover certificates issued as part of an inspection (for e.g. veterinary certificate) which falls under the INI charge.

Destination Genset Fee (DGF)

The service of providing a Genset for a refrigerated container moving under CY delivery service.

Destination Specialised Chassis (DSC)

This service applies for overweight cargo. It covers the supply of special chassis (except for tri-axle) for the import inland move. Special chassis allows for loading of cargo in the container that would be otherwise legally accepted at the destination country.

Special chassis includes but not limited to: 4-point lock fixed trailer; Sliding bogie trailer; Multi-function trailer; Slope frame ISO tank; Tipping trailer; Side loading trailer; low-bed-chassis.

Destination Step Deck Trailer (DST)

This charge covers the service of providing a step deck trailer to the customer for the Import haulage move. A step deck trailer helps to carry cargo that is too tall to go on other types of trailers.

Detention in Transit Service (DIT)

The carrier has the ability to hold shipments at transhipment ports until further instructions are received from the customer. This gives the customers the flexibility to delay the cargo arrival, when it assists them in their business. Note: the carrier is unable to hold containers longer than 14 days unless the customer submits a written letter of indemnity to the carrier which states that the carrier will not be liable for any cargo damage not covered by Insurance during the extra detention period. The DIT charge is applicable based on the request by the customer and subject to the carrier’s acceptance.

Disbursement Shippers interest Coverage (DII)

This is to introduce/create a new charge code called Disbursement Shippers interest Coverage (DII), in which Shippers Interest Insurance provided by Marsh (broker) and CNA (insurer) that offers ‘All Risk’ ICC(A) coverage.

Drop Off Charge Imports (DRP)

This service applies when the carrier allows the drop off of the empty container at a different location from the one stated on the Bill of Lading as place of delivery. It applies only to Merchant Haulage (MH) containers and only for import cargo.

SI DMR Free time extension 4 days (DA4)

Increases customers Demurrage D&D free time by 4 days compared to the agreed standard free time applicable for SPOT bkg, contract & tariff. Kindly note that we are working on release 1 of DND modernization where all Spot deals and FT extension deals will move into Athena DND and since Shipper instruction free time extension product is launched to the market, we need a separate code for the same to ensure service delivery is not impacted to customers.

SI DMR Free time extension 8 days (DA8)

Increases customers Demurrage D&D free time by 8 days compared to the agreed standard free time applicable for SPOT bkg, contract & tariff. Kindly note that we are working on release 1 of DND modernization where all Spot deals and FT extension deals will move into Athena DND and since Shipper instruction free time extension product is launched to the market, we need a separate code for the same to ensure service delivery is not impacted to customers.

Alternative Fuels B10 (EC5)

ECO Delivery Ocean 10% is a blended solution with 10% being alternative fuels. Charged subject to fossil fuel surcharges. EMS charged proportionally.

Alternative Fuels B100 (EC2)

ECO Delivery Ocean 100% is a solution powered by alternative fuels, based on Maersk primary data (as all the following solutions). All fossil fuel and EMS charges are zeroed out.

Alternative Fuels B25 (EC4)

ECO Delivery Ocean 25% is a blended solution with 25% being alternative fuels. Charged subject to fossil fuel surcharges. EMS charged proportionally.

Alternative Fuels B50 (EC3)

ECO Delivery Ocean 50% is a blended solution with 50% being alternative fuels. Charged subject to fossil fuel surcharges. EMS charged proportionally.

ECO Delivery 1.0 (ECO)

ECO Delivery Ocean 1.0 (v1) is powered by alternative fuels and based on Clean Cargo emission factors. Charged subject to fossil fuel (FFF). EMS charges are zeroed out.

ECO Delivery - Green Premium (ECX)

Manual charge code from Maersk ECO Delivery Ocean 100%, where the customer keeps their fossil fuel structure, and pays the alternative fuel premium on top through the ECX surcharge. EMS charges are zeroed out.

Electronic Cargo Release Service - Export (TLE)

Also known as 'Telex' or 'Express' release, this releases the cargo at destination upon proof of identity of the receiver as consignee. This is done once all 3 original BLs have been surrendered by the consignee, or an authorised agent of the consignee, at another carrier's office location (not the discharge port). This service (TLE) is applied upon the customer's request and gets added to the shipment only after the BLs have been surrendered.

Electronic Cargo Release Service - Import (TLI)

Emergency Inland Energy Surcharge Export (EEE)

This fee is used in extraordinary circumstances, where unforeseen changes in inland energy prices cannot be covered by the carrier’s standard Inland Haulage Export charges.

The fee is applicable to all shipments with Inland export moves performed by the carrier in the countries affected by the increase in inland energy prices.

This fee is used in extraordinary circumstances, where unforeseen changes in inland energy prices cannot be covered by the carrier’s standard Inland Haulage Import charges.
The fee is applicable to all shipments with Inland import moves performed by the carrier in the countries affected by the increase in inland energy prices.

E-Methanol (ECM)

*Only select for agreed exceptions* - ECO Delivery ECM is a fuel specific solution, enabling customers to move their cargo on E-methanol only. Fossil fuel and EMS charges are zeroed out.

Emission Surcharge Adjustment (ESA)

ESA will be used for maersk.com bookings on ESS corridors (SPOT/contract online) when the ECO Delivery Ocean product is chosen to then negate the impact of ESS, i.e. zero-out overall. As next step the respective charges ES3/ES4/ES5 will be added to the booking for the products EC3/EC4/EC5 to ensure correct and proportional ESS charge application.

EMS for ECO charge EC3 (ES3)

EMS 50% is the charge applied when contracting the ECO Delivery Ocean variant B50 (EC3), on corridors/trades where EMS would apply.

EMS for ECO charge EC4 (ES4)

EMS 75% is the charge applied when contracting the ECO Delivery Ocean variant B25 (EC4), on corridors/trades where EMS would apply.

EMS for ECO charge EC5 (ES5)

EMS 90% is the charge applied when contracting the ECO Delivery Ocean variant B10 (EC5), on corridors/trades where EMS would apply.

Extra Seal charge (ESC)

Additional services like providing/attaching extra seals to containers in the terminals falls under this surcharge. However, this should not be used for the first seal provided to the customers for their exports. (which should be included in the general service). The charge also covers the operational procedures needed to perform the task.

3rd Party Fine or Expense Export (FIO)

3rd Party Fine or Expense export charge is to cover all fines or expenses issued by any 3rd party, and paid by the carrier on behalf of the customer.

Bkg Free time extension 4 days (FA4)

Increases customers Detention or combined D&D free time by 4 days compared to the agreed standard free time applicable contract & tariff.

Kindly note that we are working on release 1 of DND modernisation where all Spot deals and FT extension deals will move into Athena DND and since BKG free time extension product is launched to the market we need a separate code for the same to ensure service delivery is not impacted to customers.

Bkg Free time extension 8 Days (FA8)

Increases customers Detention or combined D&D free time by 8 days compared to the agreed standard free time applicable contract & tariff.

Bkg free time extension 14 days (FB4)

Increases customers Detention or combined D&D free time by 14 days compared to the agreed standard free time applicable contract & tariff.

Fish Loader (FLD)

This is the cost associated with providing a tray to load fish into reefer containers via conveyor belt while maintaining the required temperature. This ensures efficient loading of cargo from breakbulk to container.

Flatbed Chassis Export (FCE)

Charge covers the service of providing a flatbed chassis to the customer for the export haulage move.

Flatbed Chassis Import (FCI)

Charge covers the service of providing a flatbed chassis to the customer for the import haulage move.

Flex Hub (FSP)

This service covers the ability for our customers to store their containers in one of our hubs.

Freetime Extension (F01~F14)

This charge covers the premium for extra Detention or combined D&D Freetime that customer purchased at the time of the booking, on top of agreed standard Freetime on spot or applicable contract/tariff. Number in the each charge codes indicate the number of days additionally purchased.

Freetime Extension (F15~F29)

Increases customers Detention or combined D&D freetime by 15-20, 22-24, and 26-29 days compared to the agreed standard freetime on spot or applicable contract/tariff.

Freetime Extension Contracts (DTI)

This charge covers the price paid by contract customers for additional Freetime for their ocean logistics contract.

Freight Collection Destination (CLD)

The fee applied when the carrier- collects freight charges locally- collects freight charges in a local currencyThe fee applies to shipments when the service if offered at destination.Since this fee is mandated by local authorities, the charge may take the form of a fixed fee or a percentage of the total freight.The fee is also applied to the service to allow clients to settle shipments’ ocean freight at 3rd place other than Origin or Destination

Freight Collection Origin (CLO)

The fee applied when the carrier- collects freight charges locally- collects freight charges in a local currencyThe fee applies to shipments when the service is offered at Origin. Fresh Pass - Destination (FPD)

Orchestration premium used at a GCSS stage (not contracted) for using Cold Chain services as an upsell to ocean reefer customers. Revenue for CCL services is allocated to the destination. This is because the consignee, who is not the owner of the Maersk ocean contract, may need CCL services at the destination.

Fumigation and Gas measurement - Export (FME)

It covers the administration and vendor cost to carry out fumigation and/or gas measurement related services at export end.

3rd Party Fine or Expense Export (FIO)

3rd Party Fine or Expense export charge is to cover all fines or expenses issued by any 3rd party, and paid by the carrier on behalf of the customer.

Garments on Hangers Service (HEC)

This service covers the provision and/or instalation of hanger beams inside a container for garments to be hung for smooth transportation. This service is useful when transporting apparel.

Green Fuels B50 (EC3)

A blended fuel product using both fossil fuels and reduced GHG emissions fuels* enabling customers to begin shifting to lowering their GHG emissions footprint in their supply chains. Fuel mix represents the GHG emissions savings based on the fuel used through a 3rd party verified calculation methodology.

*Maersk defines reduced / lower GHG emissions fuels as fuels with at least 65% reductions in GHG emissions on a lifecycle basis compared to fossil of 94 g CO2e/MJ

Heavy Weight Surcharge Export (HWE)

This service covers the additional operational expenses incurred at Origin for handling heavy cargo that weighs more than the standard limit for a shipment.The carrier can provide this service as long as the cargo does not weigh more than the legal safety limit. This service is applicable to heavy weight shipments that are within legal limits allowed for transport. These limits may vary among the countries. Heavyweight Handling Charge (HHC)

Heavy weight handling charge is a charge to be applied when the weight of the cargo is heavier than standard terminal capacity meaning terminal will handle the container with a different type of equipment that comes with extra cost. This charge is to be applied case by case. The amount is to be based on the extra cost to be applied by terminal to handle the container.

House Transport Document Service (HBL)

This service covers additional administrative tasks when a forwarder issues a House Bill of Lading (HBL). Once an HBL is provided by the forwarder, we issue an Original Bill of Lading (BL)/Transport Document (TPDOC). If applicable, we also file the actual details with the US Customs in addition to this.

Import Security Filing (ISF)

This service covers the cost of filing ISF on behalf of the USA based importer.

Inland Additional Import Service (IAI)

It covers any additional ad hoc costs that might occur during the import inland move that are not covered in our surcharge portfolio (please check the trigger tab for more details)

Inland Security Service Export (NSE)

Charge covers the service of providing a security service on Exports inland move.

Inland Security Service Import (NSI)

Charge covers the service of providing a security service on imports inland move.

Ins premium tax (pass on to insurer) (IPT)

This charge is the tax on insurance premium for Zurich insurance coverage on the shipment.

Inspection Fee Export (INE)

The charge applies when the below Service carried out at the Export end. Charge to cover for costs related to inspection of cargo or container.Typical scenarios would be: outside surveyor, customs requirements, X-ray, veterinary inspection, inspections for certain certificates etc. The charge includes additional moves needed to perform the inspection and it covers the cost of the certificate to be issued, if required, when the Inspection is done for certification.Previously known as Inspection Fee (PHE) and Exam fee (EXE), and Certification fee (CER) for certificates issued based on inspection

The charge applies when the below Service carried out at the Import end. This charge is the insurance premium for Zurich insurance coverage on the shipment.

Lashing and Securing (LAS)

This service provide lashing and securing to the cargo inside (or on top) of the container, lashing and securing of the customer’s cargo target to the special equipment units.

Late Documentation Fee - Export (LDE)

This fee is to cover additional administration costs when the customer submits relevant Shipping Instructions (SI) and/or mandatory Bill of Lading (B/L)/Transport Documentation (TPdoc) after the specified cut-off time for the shipment. This fee is applied upon receipt of late SI/documents.

Late Documentation Fee - Import (LDI)

Late Gate Service Export (LGE)

The service of allowing containers to be gated in after the cut-off time (CY closing) and loaded on the scheduled vessel/voyage.The charge will not apply if: the late gate is arranged for the carrier’s convenience.This service is subject to the Carrier’s operational feasibility.

Late Payment Fee (LPF)

Late payment fee will be applicable when payment has not been remitted within 7 days from the invoice due date, or later than otherwise agreed payment terms.

Lift on Lift off Exports (HDE)

It is a pass through charge which covers the container lift-on /lift-off the trailer or chassis at the port or at inland container yard for export moves.

Lift on Lift off Imports (HDI)

It is a pass through charge which covers the container lift-on /lift-off the trailer or chassis at the port or at inland container yard for import moves.

LnS Export Equipment Positioning Service (BASPOE)

It covers the cost to position equipment at inland container yards or depots to be able to perform the EXPORT inland moves inclusive in BAS. This surcharge code is for internal use only. Should not be presented on the invoice as a line item.

Load Guarantee (LAB)

This charge code will be used for containers for which customers have purchased Load Guarantee service. Containers will be flagged and receive priority on loading.

Locked Rate Reservation Fee (LRF)

It is to be applied on a corridor basis for those corridors in which customer opted for lock-rate. The fee unlocks customer’s ability to freeze the rate customer to see for 30 days after the date of purchase in which they can book unlimited booking against this frozen rate. The fee is applied on purchase basis via GCSS (charge apply on first booking only).

Low Flatbed / Low Deck Chassis Export (LLE)

Charge covers the service of providing low flatbed / low deck chassis to the customer for the export haulage move.

Low Flatbed / Low Deck Chassis Import (LLI)

Charge covers the service of providing low flatbed / low deck chassis to the customer for the import haulage move.

Maersk Cargo care (MCR)

Cargo Risk Management provided by Vertice and Chubb (insurer) that offers ‘All Risk’ ICC(A) coverage and Risk Classification. This includes providing additional cargo security, and extended mitigation measures to reduce the exposure to the cargo against any perils / threats while the cargo is handled / operated / custody and control of Maersk or its affiliates.

Maersk Assured cargo (MAC)

This is a service provided by Prism on ultimate reliability and flexibility.

Maersk Accelerate (MA2)

This charge code will be used for containers for which customers have purchased Maersk Accelerate as an ocean value added service together with their contract products. Containers will be block stowed and receive priority discharge to be ready for container pick-up by customers. Express gate out, expediated inland delivery and guaranteed destination change are optional subjective to local market evaluation.

Maersk Visibility Studio (MVS)

Maersk Visibility Studio is a real time visibility tool that covers CY/CY & CY/SD LCL & FCL ocean moves as well as other modes of transportation such as rail & landside moves. It is a digital tool that is offered by Maersk and available on Maersk.com for all global subscribers to MVS. This can be applied to all Maersk ocean clients and is able to also deliver multi carrier visibility.

Magnum Reefer Service (MGM)

We provide this service when you require containers whic are capable of cooling/freezing cargo to -35°C (as opposed to the regular -30°C).

Manifest Pendencies or Amendments (PAM)

This service covers additional costs to carrier due to shipper’s failure to submit information or amendments requested after certain deadlines.
Additional costs include out of pocket operational expenses incurred by carrier such as re-nomination, shifting, port storage, administrative charges, manifest amendment, etc Any consequential expenses incurred. are not covered under PAM and those costs will have to be invoiced separately as allowed per tariff or contract.

Manual Booking Amendment Fee (MBA)

The fee covers booking amendments requested via manual channels (phone, fax, e-mail and chat), when same could have been done through the Carrier’s E-channels.

Manual Booking Fee (MBF)

A fee which covers the additional administration required by the carrier to process booking instructions received via non e-channel. These are known as manual bookings. Manual bookings are: fax, e-mail, posted mail, and telephone. This fee will be applied in addition to the standard ODF/DDF charges when a customer makes a booking via manual booking channels.

Manual Documentation Processing Fee (MDF)

This fee covers the additional administration required to process shipping instructions received via non e-channel. These are known as manual booking channels. Manual booking channels are: fax, e-mail, posted mail, and telephone. The fee is applicable when documentation is received by the carrier via manual booking channels. This will be in addition to the MBF charge if the shipment is also booked via manual booking channels.

Multi Stop Service Exports (MSE)

It covers the service of stopping to additional places to load additional cargo during a carrier haulage export move (from the initial stuffing point to the terminal). The surcharge covers only the administration fee, while the potential additional transportation cost should be covered via IAE surcharge.

Multi Stop Service Imports (MSI)

It covers the service of stopping to additional places to unload additional cargo during a carrier haulage import move (from the terminal to the final stripping point). The surcharge covers only the administration fee, while the potential additional transportation cost should be covered via IAI surcharge.

Non-CONT REEF TRK IMP (RTI)

Import charge. This service covers the transportation of temperature controlled cargo in reefer truck/trailer.

O

Ocean Premium Feature (OC1)

Ocean Contracts premium components are made available to all customers under this ocean premium. The service is space allocation components covering space seasonality and additional space for customers.

Origin Certificate charge (OCG)

Origin Genset Charge (OGC)

The service of providing a Genset for a refrigerated container at origin side.

Origin Specialised Chassis (OSC)

This service applies for overweight cargo. It covers the supply of special chassis (except for tri-axle) for the export inland move. Special chassis allows for loading more cargo in the container that would be otherwise legally accepted at the origin country.

Special chassis includes but not limited to:4-point lock fixed trailer; Sliding bogie trailer; Multi-function trailer; Slope frame ISO tank; Tipping trailer; Side loading trailer; low-bed-chassis.

Origin Step Deck Trailer (OST)

This charge covers the service of providing a step deck trailer to the customer for the Export haulage move. A step deck trailer helps to carry cargo that is too tall to go on other types of trailers.

Payer Amendment Fee - Destination (PAD)

Charge is applicable when Collect charge payer details changed after invoice already generated & final vessel ETA.

Payer Amendment Fee - Origin (PAO)

Charge applicable for change of prepaid payer or payment terms after the first prepaid invoice

Pick-Up Charge Exports (PIC)

This service applies when the carrier allows the pickup of the empty container at a different location from the one stated on the Bill of Lading as place of receipt. It applies only to Merchant Haulage (MH) containers and only for export cargo.

Pier Pass (PIP)

This surcharge is used to cover Pier Pass, which is a fee charged for containerized truck moves at Terminals. Trucking providers cover this charge at the ports and specially this charge is billing for NAM.

Premium Quality Container (PQC)

We provide this service when your cargo requires containers of a specific quality such as food grade containers, containers of a specific age, containers designed for specific commodities like electronics, etc. The quality assessment is defined and carried on by the respective clusters. This charge also includes the cost of inspection of the empty container to make sure it meets the requirements.

Pre-Pull service Export (PPE)

This service covers the request of the customer, that a full container is pre-pulled from the terminal to the Inland Carrier’s yard to avoid terminal storage for an export move.

Pre-Pull service Import (PPI)

This service covers the request of the customer, that a full container is pre-pulled from the terminal to the Inland Carrier’s yard to avoid terminal storage for an import move.

Probe Service (JTC)

This service covers the installation of probes to monitor and record the temperature while your refrigerated cargo is in transit. There are certain commodities (that require cold treatment where this service is mandatory in order to be accepted for transport. In that case, we automatically facilitate this service even without specific customer request.

Reefer Monitoring Plug-in Service - Export (RFE)

If you are transporting temperature controlled shipments, this service (provided at origin) ensures continuous monitoring of the same, along with the verification of temperature settings and checking for equipment malfunctions. This is extremely crucial whenever an operating refrigerated container is in use for a temperature controlled shipment.

Reefer Monitoring Plug-in Service - Import (RFI)

If you are importing temperature controlled shipments, this service (provided at destination) ensures continuous monitoring of the same, along with the verification of temperature settings and checking for equipment malfunctions. This is extremely crucial whenever an operating refrigerated container is in use for a temperature controlled shipment.

Rollable Compensation (RBC)

This is a compensation that is paid out to Customer by Maersk only once irrespective how many times a container has been rolled. It only applies in case the booking is rolled by Carrier - due to circumstances within their control. This compensation would be proactive and automated once the container have been confirmed delayed.

SI DET Free time extension 4 days (SA4)

Increases customers Detention or combined D&D free time by 4 days compared to the agreed standard free time applicable contract & tariff. Kindly note that we are working on release 1 of DND modernization where all Spot deals and FT extension deals will move into Athena DND and since Shipper instruction free time extension product is launched to the market, we need a separate code for the same to ensure service delivery is not impacted to customers.

Shipper-Owned/Leased Equipment Fee (SOC)

SOC is a fee applicable to shipper‘s owned or leased equipment transported by the carrier.

SI DET Free time extension 8 days (SA8)

Increases customers Detention or combined D&D free time by 8 days compared to the agreed standard free time applicable contract & tariff. Flex Route (Sales on Water) (SOW)

This charge code will be used for containers for which customers have purchased Sales on Water as an ocean value added service together with their contract products. Customer will have the flexibility to decide final destination for Sales on Water shipment when they are transported on water.

Setpoint Change Charge (SCC)

Setpoint Change Charge will be used for two purposes:

As a fee to be applied to customers requesting a set point change AFTER the booking has been released.
As a surcharge to bookings where customers are requesting Multiple Setpoints in terms of temperature step up/down during the journey.

The charge covers the cost of changing the setpoint – remotely or manually, to amend transport documents and follow up that setpoint in fact has been amended.

Side Loader Chassis Export (SIE)

Charge covers the service of providing a side loader chassis to the customer for the export haulage move.

Side Loader Chassis Import (SII)

Charge covers the service of providing a side loder chassis to the customer for the import haulage move.

Simplified Import Clearance (CSP)

This is a fee to process a simplified import procedure for the local customs authority. This procedure can only be made when the importer has received authorization from the local authorities.

Single Truck Surcharge - Destination (STD)

This service covers the cost of moving one container in one truck. This service is applicable to all containers that customer request to move on a single basis for the direction of import.

Single Truck Surcharge - Origin (STS)

This service covers the cost of moving one container in one truck. This service is applicable to all containers that customer request to move on a single basis for the directions of export.

Star Care Reefer Service (CAS)

Controlled Atmosphere (CA) charge covers the additional costs associated with providing a special-atmosphere-controlled refrigerated container for transportation. These types of containers ensure the gas mixture of oxygen and carbon dioxide is regulated and are offered in two different products: 1) Star Fresh: Active CA. 2) Star Care: Passive CA. These apply when the carrier receives a request for this type of container.

StarRipe CR (Controlled Ripening) (SRC)

Star Ripe CR is a new container type in our reefer fleet and basically an enhancement of our StarCare CA (Controlled Atmosphere) containers with the additional ability to ripen fruit, offering an alternative to stationary ripening chambers at destination. Fruit, e.g. bananas, ripening inside the reefer container during the trip will save time and support the banana trade with additional ripening capacity.

Stuffie Reefer Service (STF)

This service is for the times you need special refrigerated equipment with a hole in the roof and membrane towards ULT. Through this, we ensure that a low temperature is maintained while loading so that the cargo inside the container can be cooled down to -60°C within hours.

Switch Transport Document Service (SWC)

This service enables switching transport documents such as BLs to show new parties by issuing a second set of documents. A switch protects the interests of the cargo intermediary by preventing the shipper from being visible to the buyer.

T

T1 Documentation Fee (T1D)

If you are transporting non-community goods between two locations within the European Union customs area, this fee issues the required T1 documents as per the EU tax regulations. It is applicable for all EU shipments and allows taxes to be suspended until the cargo reaches its final destination.

Temporary Customs Service - Import (TCI)

A service in which the carrier pays the charges for temporary customs clearance of the container (not cargo) on the customer’s behalf and the related costs are then passed onto the customer.

This service is applicable upon the customer’s request.

Tipper Trailer Export ( TTE)

Charge covers the service of providing a tipper trailer to the customer for the export haulage move.

Tipper Trailer Import (TTI)

Charge covers the service of providing a tipper trailer to the customer for the import haulage move.

Transhipment Letter (TSL)

Service that provides -after the client's request- the preparation of the transhipment letter, including courier services to deliver the letter to the client.

Transport Document Amendment Fee Export (AME)

Transport Document Issuance Service-Export (BLE)

This surcharge covers the administrative cost of providing a new set of BLs. It covers the re-issuance of BL in Origin or Shipper location.

Transport Document Issuance Service-Import (BLI)

This surcharge covers the administrative cost involved in issuance of BL in destination or third location (Example : Consignee is from landlocked country)

Triaxle Chassis Export (TRE)

Service offered for overweight cargo. It covers the supply of tri-axle chassis for the export inland move. Tri-axle chassis allow to load more cargo in the container that would be otherwise legally accepted at the origin country.

Triaxle Chassis Import (TRI)

This service applies for overweight cargo. It covers the supply of tri-axle chassis for the import inland move. Tri-axle chassis allows loading of more cargo in the container that would be otherwise legally accepted at the destination country.
