As Windows & VMware Tower Lead you will be responsible for Windows and VMware platforms and Operational Support Team across Data Centre locations around the World. Your primary function will be to operate solutions within Maersk’s Private Cloud on-premises and 3rd party managed locations

As Tower Lead you will provide oversight for technical delivery of internal and external resources, ensuring services operate effectively and are maintained appropriately.

What you will be doing:

  • Oversight of the Technical delivery by Maersk SMEs and Managed Services providers who operate our Data Centres (Kyndryl, InterXion, Local Branch Offices)
  • Server operations
  • Server Virtualization
  • Ensuring Server platform and Operating systems are running 24/7
  • Management of the Service Operations to ensure that SLAs and KPIs are hit with respect to Incidents, Requests, Change and Problem Management processes.
  • Monitoring and patching of systems, and proactively preventing Incidents. Where Incidents occur, you will actively support the Problem Management process to resolve and avoid further occurrences
  • Cultivating and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including end-users, Change, Incident Managers, Middleware and DataBase Specialists, 3rd parties and senior staff members
  • The nature of the position involves actively participating in multiple workgroups at a time, and disseminating information across all levels of the organisation
  • Reviewing and validating Reference Architecture documentation from Vendors, Technical SMEs, and Enterprise Architecture Team, such as SOPs, Vendor manuals, and Systems specifications, and ensuring they are followed, and Technologies are properly built and maintained
  • Carry out thorough QA checks as part of Operation Go- Live
  • Contribute to continual service improvement by challenging, reviewing, updating and where non-existent creating processes and procedures to drive operational excellence
  • Responsible for Services and Operational improvements as well as act as a Technical escalation for the Vendor and Service Owner
  • Maintain the Service Catalogue and CMDB to ensure accurate and appropriate information about Services information, performance and limitations is available to inform the best decision making by the Teams considering use of your Services
  • Vendor Management: participate in formal and informal Operational Meetings with your Vendors to ensure they are delivering in line with contractual commitments, and you are continually partnering with the strategic Suppliers to evolve and improve the services delivered.
  • Identification of risks and capability to work with stakeholders to communicate, score and agree mitigation plans associated with them
  • Oversee common processes like Access and Capacity Management and Financial processes

You will offer:

  • Recognised as a Senior Specialist within the relevant Technical specialisation, typically with 5-10 years of experience
  • Experience managing external service providers and contracts
  • Troubleshooting and 3rd line Support activities
  • Solid Infrastructure and Technical skills covering Virtualisation (Hyper-V & VMware) and Microsoft Platforms (Windows server, Windows Clustering, AD, O365, IIS)
  • Server hardware & software (HP, DELL, IBM, Lenovo)
  • PowerShell scripting skills
  • Technical knowledge in any Microsoft and HPE products
  • Identity & Access Management
  • Capacity Management
  • Hands-on experience with IAAS, and PAAS and working with Vendors
  • Experience/Knowledge with ITIL Framework
  • Preferred certifications, but not required or limited to: ITIL Foundation, MCSA: Windows Server certification or VMware certification
