Vessel Assurance Surveyor
Opportunity
This is a new position which will give you a unique opportunity to carry out port Inspections onboard Maersk vessels and work on continuous improvement of assurance process.
Reporting to the Head of Chartering Assurance in Singapore, the team is responsible for driving improved safety and operational reliability for all our vessels which include own managed and chartered vessels using digital platforms and real-time data.
As the inspectors in the frontend, your role is critical for identifying and addressing our high-risk areas and enable us to make data-based decisions regarding our network vessels. You will be based in Singapore and work closely with Teams in Copenhagen, Mumbai and Singapore. When you are not Surveying onboard, you would be interacting with Ship owners and managers to follow up on risks identified from the Survey.

Key Responsibilities
Inspect Maersk Time Chartered and Owned vessels in Singapore and Tanjung Pelepas Port covering but not limited to:
Vessel condition surveys
Pre-Charter Surveys
Crane Surveys
On Hire Surveys
Pre-Purchase Inspections
Risk-based surveys – detailed inspections on specific elements on high-risk vessels and other risk category vessels as needed
Verification of critical controls
Conduct incident investigations including root cause analysis.
Assist with day to day challenges in the region locally
Engage in dialogues with Local Authorities (e.g. PSC) discussing challenges and proposals with close dialogue with Marine Standards
Engage with Time Charter Ship Managers in the region
Inspect TC vessels in Drydock in the region
Conduct Verification of critical controls
Interact with Ship owners and managers for inspection finding follow up
Drive continuous improvement of FleetRisk Platform from Surveyor’s perspective
Engage with local terminals for continual improvements in safety for stevedores
Who we are looking for
2 to 3 years of shore experience working as a superintendent with a 3rd party ship manager is highly preferred.
Sea-faring experience up to senior officer is highly advantageous
Good knowledge of SOLAS, MARPOL, ISPS and IMO rules
Good English communication skills both written and spoken.
Good people management skills
Experience with data analysis will be an advantage
Additional requirements:
Inspect vessels depending on vessel schedule
Knowledge and comfortable using digital tools for creating inspection reports.
